<Scarlet>
Happiness and fear swirled through her as she walked up to the apartment Cody was staying at. She opened the door and froze. He was laying upside down on the bed playing his PlayStation and eating chips. He turned his head and froze as he saw her, his character dying a second later. She busted out laughing as he practically flew out of the bed and hugged her.
"What are you doing here? I thought you'd be spending time with William."
"That's what I need to talk to you about."
She came in and sat down on the bed, Cody sitting opposite to her. She seemed shaky and nervous, which she hated feeling.
"Is getting back with him a good idea?"
"What do you mean?"
She took a deep breathe before she said what she really wanted to say, laying it all out on the table.
"He got super clingy, he always pushed for us to hang out and he didn't seem to be himself, he was like a loyal dog rather then a person. And he ran his mouth about other people when he saw me upset, which honestly just pissed me off more. He's a good guy, a great guy, and I care about him. But.. I don't know if he's changed."
Cody took a minute to ponder all she said, he seemed to really be thinking about it and then finally he answered her question with a question. "Did you love spending time with him?"
"Yes."
"Did you like it when you two hung out?"
"Most times, yeah."
"Well then I think I have an idea." He stood up and went to the fridge, pulling out two Mountain Dew bottles.
"Give it a chance, even if he ran his mouth and did all that bad. He can't make up for it, I know but..." he took a big gulp of his drink, "He can be better in the future, besides, you're wearing the necklace he got you, aren't you?"
She touched it with her fingers and smiled, it was kinda sweet for him to give it to her. I can give him one chance.
"I'll try little bro."
"You know I'm at least a head taller then you, right?"
"So? Williams an inch shorter so he's a dwarf." That succeeded in making them laugh.
"He's been taking the hits for a while now, he'll be fine." She sobered instantly, "What do you mean?"
Cody's eyes turned sad and serious as he stood up and threw away his now empty bottle.
"Since you two broke up, a lot of his friends ran their mouth about you. They weren't happy about it and they were angry that he got hurt. Instead of making him feel better it pissed him off. He hated it, so even on his lowest days he still stood up for you."
"I don't need him to stand up for me. I can handle myself."
"Believe me, he knows. He chooses to, though."
"Why? Its not his problem it's mine."
"Because he loves you. Why do you stand up for me when I'm upset?"
"Because I care."
"And how is it different for him?"
She signed in frustration, she knew he had a point but also knew it was annoying. She finished her bottle and tossed it, then gave Cody a hug and thanked him for the help.
"Hey, real fast..." he handed her another bottle of Mountain Dew, "Give that to him for me, will you?"
"Sure, can't guarantee it'll be full, though." She smiled and wave as she hoped on her motorcycle, heading back to the hospital.<William>
I'm an idiot. Completely and truly.
He bent down to pick up his hoodie which had fallen over, his chest still stung and the stitches didn't help. He threw it on over his green 'Luck of the Irish' shirt. He just got it zipped up and on when someone knocked on the door. He smiled and walked towards it, expecting it to be Cody or Scarlet.
He couldn't have been more wrong. The door was kicked open before he reached it, 2 guys walking in. They were tall, the first one being 6'4 and the other 6'2. The black masks they had on covered from their nose down, and their eyes were hidden by black shades. Their pants and shoes the same, the only difference was the inside color of the hoodie, one blue the other orange.
"Why hello there, couldn't even wait to say hi could you?" Williams sarcasm was clearly unappreciated when they growled and took a step forward. The biggest one was the first to talk.
"Where's Scarlet?"
"What's it to you?"
"You better answer me dickhead or you'll be in a lot worse shape then you are now."
"And you better tell me why you want to see her or you will be needing this room."
"Got a lot of talk coming from a dwarf." William smirked at that as something clicked. He took a step forward and took another look at the two.
You little...
He ripped the mask off the shorter of the two and smacked him upside the head. He was obviously surprised by the action and cursed him.
"Careful you little brat, that's your mother too."
"How'd you know it was me?"
"First off, I'm your big brother, I know you. Secondly, you were being way to quiet. Why are you two here Rob?"
"Its been 4 months and that's all i get?" William smiled and hugged his little brother, god it felt like years since he last saw him. He'd grown up a lot, looking a lot more well muscled then the twig he use to be.
"You look good little bro, now why are you two looking for Scarlet?"
"Commander wants to see her."
"What? Why? She was kidnapped and instead of an 'is she ok', she wants her to come back?" William growled in his throat and sighed, knowing it was pointless to argue it.
"When does she leave?"
"Now. The commander is pissed."
"Why? What happened?"
"There was an attempt on her life."Hello readers! I'm sorry about the random upload times, things have been a little crazy lately. I'm gonna try and upload at least one chapter a week and make it frequent again, thank you for all your support and keeping up with the book thus far!
