Today , Cadet Karissa Lowell arrived on Star Base 12 to study Medical Science, But her heart is really into the Arts and Humanities. She came from Planet Earth because the earth as we know it has been ruined by nuclear war.
The earth surface has been contaminated by radiation, the water supply has been polluted by radiation, and the food and vegetation has been contaminated by radiation.
Most if not all the young women and men have found incapable of bearing children due to the radiation, and only those young men and women that have taken the Star Fleet shuttle-crafts have been spared the disastrous effects of the radiation.
Cadet Karissa Lowell was one of those fortunate young women that decided to leave Planet Earth and she took a full scholarship to study at Star Fleet Academy.
Cadet Karissa Lowell decided not to live on Star Fleet Academy campus and she found a room at Madame's Boarding House and where she can be a ground gardens, nature, and sing and dance.
When Cadet Karissa Lowell found Madame's Boarding House. She was captivated by the gardens that surrounded Madam'e property.
Madame Bouiver gave Cadet Karissa Lowell the keys to the garden as she had not been able to take care of it herself since she was getting up there in age, but Madame said that she could use the gardener to take care of the garden.
Cadet Karissa Lowell was happy to help Madame Bouiver out and she would help the gardener out every day after she would go and sit under the tall, oak, tree that sat on the hilltop that over looked Star Fleet Academy with Madame's pet Cock-Spaniel by her side.
While Cadet Karissa Lowell was sitting under the tree reading a letter from her friend, Keri Anderson. She never looked up to see if anyone has approached her.
"Good Day. My name is Lt Kevin Riley." The gentleman introduced himself to her.
"Cadet Karissa ignored him and Lt Riley repeated himself to her, "Good Day. I am Lt Kevin Riley and who might you be?" Lt Riley asks her.
Cadet Lowell finally looked up and said, " Good day Lt Riley."
"What might your name be Cadet?" Lt Kevin Riley asks.
"Lt Riley. My name is Cadet Karissa Lowell." Karissa answers.
"I have not seen you hear before? Do you live on campus?" Lt Kevin Riley asks
"Lt Riley. I don't live on Star Fleet Academy campus." Cadet Karissa replies
"Where do you Cadet Karissa Lowell?" Lt Kevin Riley asks.
"I live at Madame's Boarding House on the outskirt of Star Base 12." Karissa replies.
"What are you studying Cadet Karissa?" Lt Riley asks.
"I am studying Medical Science." Karissa answers.
"What are you studying Lt Riley?" Karissa asks.
"I am studying Engineering?" Lt Kevin Riley answers.
"Do you like Kevin Riley?" Karissa asks.
"Cadet Karissa, I do enjoy it and I am taking my internship on The Enterprise." Lt Riley answers.
"Kevin Riley, I don't believe that human beings should be exploring Space. They already destroyed earth." Karissa answers, "Most of the young men and women have been rendered incapable of having children."
"Do you plan to have a family some day Cadet Karissa?" Lt Kevin Riley asks.
"Lt Riley, I most certainly do plan to have a family ." Karissa replies.
"Do you plan to marry before you have your children Cadet Lowell?" Lt Kevin Riley.
"I do not think it necessary that a woman be married to have her children. All she needs is a good man with good genetics." Karissa replies.
"Cadet Karissa. I think that a lady should be married before she has her children. They need both parents to raise them." Kevin Riley replies.
"Kevin Riley. I plan to let the baby's father have a part in the child life." Karissa explains.
"I see Karissa." Kevin answers.
"Karissa, do you know how many gentlemen have been watching you sing and dance every time you come up on the hill top?" Kevin asks.
"I pay no attention to who watches me sing and dance up here on this hill." Karissa answers, "It comes naturally."
"Karissa. Are you aware that one Lt. Commander David Beck is watching you from a distance.?" Kevin asks.
"No Kevin. I am not aware that Lt Commander Beck is watching me or do I care." Karissa answers.
"Karissa. Lt Commander Beck is sly young man. He is also an aristocrat." Kevin explains.
"I see and is that suppose to impress me Kevin?" Karissa answers.
"Karissa. He has his eye on you too. He may eventually come here and talk to you." Kevin explains.
"Kevin, I will treat with due respect." Karissa answers, " Please excuse me I would like to get back to letter. I have to return to Madame's before sunset."
"Good Afternoon Karissa." Kevin says and he walks away.
Karissa continues to read her letter from her cousin, Keri Andersen.
