Now it came to pass while Cadet  Karissa Lowell was sitting under the tree and after Lt Andrew Howard and Lt Kevin Riley left Karissa alone  by herself. She was approached by a tall, handsome gentleman.

"Good Day Cadet?" The gentleman said to her.

"Good Day Sir." Karissa answer with a salute of her left hand.

"At Ease Cadet. We are not on Star Fleet Campus." The gentleman states.

"Beg your pardon Sir, but I was taught to show my superiors proper respect." Karissa answers.

"It is commendable Cadet." The Officer states.

"What is your name Cadet?" The gentleman asks her.

"I am Cadet Karissa Lowell." Karissa answers, "Who might you be?"

"My name is Lt Commander David Beck. I am the senior medical officer here on Star Base 12." Lt Commander Beck answers.

"Sir, I talked to your cousin, Lt Andrew Howard." Karissa replies.

"Lt Andrew Howard is my second cousin." Lt Commander Beck answers.

"Andrew has no liking for you Sir." Karissa replies.

"I am sure the feeling is mutual." Lt Commander Beck laughs.

"Neither of you are very loving towards each other." Karissa answers.

"Lt Andrew Howard was born on Star Base 10 and I was born on Star Base 12." Lt Commander Beck replies.

"May I call you Karissa off campus?" Lt Commander Beck asks.

"You may call me Karissa if you like?" Karissa answers.

"Please call me David Karissa. I would really like it." David asks Karissa.

"As you wish David." Karissa replies.

"I have noticed you since you first arrived on Star Base 12 and I have watched you sing and dance under the sun light skies of Star Base 12." David tells Karissa.

"I am sure that many young men have watched me dance and sing." Karissa replies, "I sing and dance because my mother and father taught me to love the Arts and Humanities."

"I have heard you sing and I love it when you sing Karissa." David tells her.

"I sing because I love music. dancing, and all sorts of things.'" Karissa replies.

"Karissa, I would love for you to come and visit my Estate of Elmhurst on the outskirts of Star Base 12. It is surrounded with gardens, both flowers and vegetables gardens. " David tells her.

"Where do you live Karissa? I have not seen you on campus."  David asks her.

"I don't live on campus I live at Madame's Boarding House on the far end of Star Base 12." Karissa replies, "I don't like campus living."

"Understandable Karissa. Neither do I." David answers.

"What are you plans for the future?" David asks.

"David. I am taking up Medical Science and with that I hope to go into Pediatrics and working with children." Karissa answers.

"Karissa, once you finish two years of Star Fleet Academy. I would gladly give you an internship working with me side by side. You may take care of the children and I will take care of the students and adults." David tells her.

"David, I have to get through the first two years of this very boring studying." Karissa answers, "I really don't want to I would rather study The Arts and Humanities."

"Karissa. I know this much that there is Academy of The Arts and Humanities on Star Base 10." David tells her.

"David, I received a full scholarship to study at Star Fleet Academy." Karissa replies.

"Karissa. Once you complete two years of Academy and you start your internship I will gladly paid you a handsome salary and you can start to put some a side and follow your dreams." David tells her.

"David, I have other plans actually. You see I want a daughter and my love for Arts and The Humanities must come only after my child." Karissa replies.

"Correct Karissa, but don't you have to bed a man before you conceive?" David asks.

"Yes David, I know that I took high biology." Karissa replies with a laugh.

"You are the second one who has said that to me." Karissa replies again with another laugh.

"Who might that be Karissa?" David asks.

"Andrew Howard told me that too." Karissa replies.

"What else did Lt Howard say if I may be so bold to ask?" David asks

"Andrew did volunteer to be the father of my daughter." Karissa says with a laugh.

"What you would be the scoundrel Andrew Howard Karissa?" David inquires.

"I did not say that David, I said that he  volunteered his services." Karissa replies.

"What about marriage Karissa?" David asks.

"What David, I don't believe in marriage it is understated and it takes the romance and love of it." Karissa replies.

"Karissa, You are very unorthodox young woman." David laughs.

"That may be so David, but I want a daughter and to ensure it is a daughter I will have an amniocentesis test to make sure that the child is a daughter." Karissa answers, "I will take it from there."

"What about the father's right Karissa?" David inquires.

"The father will have full rights." Karissa answers.

"I see and you realize that Lt Howard is an aristocrat?" David replies.

"Yes and according to Andrew so are you David." Karissa answers.

"This is true Karissa. I am both an officer and a gentleman." David replies.

"My late mother was Lady Eliza Howard and my late father was Lord David William Beck." David replies.

"I know David, Andrew told me all about you." Karissa replies.

"What did he tell you Karissa?" David replies.

"The only thing he told me is that you  two were second cousins." Karissa answers.

"I am glad that he didn't open his big mouth." David exclaims.

"It was very nice to have met you David Beck. I am sure you will see me again." Karissa answers.

"Milady Karissa, that is my intention to see you again. May I visit you at Madam'e Boarding house." David asks.

"I will leave that up to you David." Karissa    answers and David bows and says, "Good bye Karissa and I will see you soon."

Lt Commander Beck walks away and  before he does he turns around and waves good bye to Karissa and she sits back down under the tree and she takes out her poetry book and she starts to read.
