My 'birth'day

JENNY'S POV

I don't know what to do.
The pain. I can't take it anymore.
But I couldn't tell Grayson.
I just couldn't.

"Good morning" kat said as soon as I walked out of the bedroom.
She left whatever was in her hands and went to the fridge.
"Close your eyes"
"Why?"
"Just do it"
"Fine"
I could hear the fridge door opening then closing.
"Open them"
I did.
She made me a cake.
"Kat!"
"Happy... happy birthday Jenny" she said as tears ran down her cheeks.
"Oh Kat" I hugged her tightly. "Please don't cry. I'm okay look at me, I'm still here aren't I?"
"I don't want you to die. I can't live without my bestfriend" she kept crying.

I was trying so hard to cheer her up. I didn't know what else to do. I just didn't.
I didn't know what to say.
I just felt helpless.
"Let's just see how this day goes. Okay?" I asked hoping she would let it go.
She just nodded.
"I love you kate. I...I truly wouldn't have imagined my life without you. Just let us spend this day as crazily as possible. What do you think?"
"Well crazy is all I'm good at so why not?" She laughed through her tears.
"That's my katie"
"Ugh please don't"
Man she hated it when I called her that.
"Why so mad Katie!" I acted all innocent.
"You know why! Omg" she laughed.

"Where's Grayson?" I asked her as we walked down the streets.
"He already went to the airport to get Ethan"
"You must be excited" I smiled.
"I did miss him"
"And his pancakes" I laughed.
"Ugh as unbelievable as it sounds. I did"

We spent the next few hours shopping. Actually I don't know what I was shopping for but Kate insisted that we did.

"Let's go to Teatro La Fenice!!" I looked at kate.
"Go to tetatro la what now?" She laughed.
"Teatro La Fenice. It's an opera house in Venice"
"I hate opera"
"Oh come on it would be..."
My phone rang as I was talking.
"It's Grayson!"
"Pick up"
"Hey babe" I heard him say from the other end of the phone.
"Hey Gray"
"Ethan just arrived and we're heading to our appartment right now"
"We'll meet you there"
"Saved by the phone" kat laughed.

We got to the appartment as Kat ran to Ethan and kissed him.
"Hey Eth" I said as I gave him a hug.
"Hey Jen. How are you feeling?"
"Great" I smiled.
"Babe can I talk to you for a sec?" Grayson asked.
"Yeah sure"
It was almost 8pm and it was already dark outside.
"I need to go somewhere" he said.
"Now?"
"Yeah"
"Fine let's get going"

The road was familiar. It was the Trevi Fountain.
Gray lead me to the side of the fountain as he said
"A year ago, I wouldn't have imagined where life would take me. I always thought I would end up alone or stuck with a girl I don't like. But I didn't. I met you"
"Gray..."
"I met the most beautiful, kind and sweetest girl ever. You are the light to my darkness Jenny. You are my everything.
So if you could just let me"
He continued as he slowly got down on one knee and took out a small red velvet box from his pocket.
I didn't know how it was possible but it started raining. Raining in the middle of the summer.
"If you could just let me have you for my own and have you as my wife. I know we're too young but...happy birthday baby"

I pressed my lips on his as my heart started beating faster.

Our last time.

My head started spinning and before I could say a word I lost my balance and fell to the ground.
I felt my eyes close. And I couldn't do anything about it.
"Jenny! Baby! No no no wake up baby don't do this to me"

I wanted to say something. Tell him everything was going to be alright. But I couldn't. So as rain drops ran down my cheeks I moved my hand and took off my last bracelet as I finally took my last breath.

I felt him sliding the ring on my finger. I felt his touch, his warmth. I felt his love carrying me away.

"I'll love you forever baby" were the last words I heard from him.
Forever and ever Gray.
