KATE'S POV

He was waking up.
Come on Grayson.
"Any last words?" She asked looking at me like she won.
"Uhm yes actually. Bye bye" I smiled as I saw Grayson hit her on the head with his food tray they had ready for him in case he woke up.

"Kate!" Ethan ran inside the room. "What happened? I couldn't find a doctor anywhere so I came back as fast as I could"
"That idiot tried to kill me but Grayson knocked her out" I laughed.
"Gray you woke up! How are you feeling bro?" He asked Grayson.
"My head hurst and I just hit a woman with a food tray"
"She deserved it" I said. "I'm glad you're okay Grayson"

"Thank you. But can I ask you something?"
"Yeah sure"
"Who exactly are you?"
I froze. Didn't he remember me?
Ethan looked as shocked as I was.
"Bro she's kate" Ethan stared at Grayson in disbelief.
"I'm so sorry but have we met before?"
"Gray..." I was scared to ask him that. But I had to. I continued.
"Jenny..."
He looked the same. He didn't tear up like he always did when we said her name.
"Is that your friend?"
I couldn't help all the feelings I had inside of me. He forgot her. The girl he loved the most.
He forgot her. Just like that. All the times they spent together. Gone.

"The car accident affected his brain" the doctor told us.
"And that's why he has amnesia. But the interesting fact is he can remember everything that happened before the past 3 years"
"Will he be able to remember anything of the past three years at all?" Ethan asked.
"I don't think so. But don't worry we'll take care of your other friend"
He was talking about Meredith. We told him she was crazy and hit herself, so the doctor told us he will keep her in the hospital until they make sure she wasn't on some kind of drugs.
At least we knew she wasn't going to be out anytime soon.

But I couldn't help but feel heartbroken. Not for the fact that he didn't remember me. But for the fact he didn't remember Jenny.
But as months passed by. He seemed normal. He didn't cry as much as he did.
He didn't lock himself in his room alone.
And I thought. That was all Jenny has ever wanted. She wanted him to have a normal life after she was gone.
She wanted him to live like he used to.
To fall in love again.
And maybe all of that was just meant to be.

"Guys you never told me about who is this Jenny you mentioned in the hospital"
I was hoping he wouldn't ask. But I still wouldn't tell him who she was to him.
"My bestfriend. She passed away"
"I'm sorry to hear that kate. I'm sure she was a great person"
"She was Gray. She was"
Through these past few months Ethan and I told Grayson about our relationship and about what happened on tour and how the girl he hit was Meredith, his brother's ex.
But we never mentioned Jenny.
Not in front of him.

But not a day passed by without me remembering her. Remembering all the times we spent together and how she helped me through the hardest times of my life. How we were always together no matter what.

I guess that's life. It isn't fair.
And who said it was meant to be fair?

Ethan and I spent the rest of the day together as Grayson decided to spend it alone.
"I'm glad he doesn't remember what happened" Ethan said. "Jenny wanted him to live a happy and normal life. Just like it is right now"
"Yes she did"
"I miss her too kat" he said. Knowing I was thinking of how much I missed her.
"I know Eth. Trust me. I know" I smiled at him.
