That one day changed everything.Chiron came to our house and took my dad into the other room.

"What is it, Chiron?" my dad asked.

"Well something happened,child-" My mom was sitting at the table, studying. She looked at me for a second and saw what I was doing.

"K.C. Leave them alone. Percy will tell me what's going on after Chiron leaves." She pulled me over to her and looked like she was straining to hear them. It was a while, but I heard Dad thank Chiron and I heard Chiron clomp out the door. Dad entered the kitchen with a depressed and scared look on his face. His hands were shaking.

"Annabeth, dear. Can you um..." His eyes looked over to my position then back.

"Of course. K.C. Wait here please." She smiled but I knew how she looked when he was worried or scared. Dad described that expression in many of his stories. They walked out and upstairs. I heard a door slam. I had to hear this. I snuck upstairs and put my ear up against the door. I heard the shaky voices of my parents. I never heard them so shaken up before.

There's a spirit.I don't know it's name but you know how there's limited demigods?"

"Yes,Percy,less come in every month.Why?"

"Well-that spirit is somewhat connected to the Mist but it make demigods forget who they are and what they are meant to do. Chiron has talked to Nico and he said this powerful force connects to spirits of the dead, which technically connects to him and Hades."

My mom was silent for a few moments but then spoke, "Percy,so we have to stop it?"

"No.I wouldn't allow that.I wouldn't lose you again. Maybe...K.C. could. She does have her wits and I could give her Riptide. We have taught her well, haven't we?"

"Um...Percy she's a child. She couldn't. She has no practice,no experience, just our stories and how would that help? I mean-" She stopped. hear kissing. Ew. Why would he-oh yeah.

My dad started talking.

"Maybe we could go with her and maybe get the gang together again. It could be fun to get us all together.Whatever this is,I know we will succeed. I just know it."

"But Percy.....we are basically retired. So are everyone else. I just want a normal life, you know how I feel Percy. I just don't want to."

She opened the door. I face-planted onto the carpet.

"K.C.! I thought you would stay-wait. You're our daughter. Of course you would do this." She helped me up.

"So,you know what's up,huh?"

"Umm....yeah.Dad-" I turned to him. "So,you think I can do this with you guys?" He looked over-joyed. "Yes! I've waited for an opportunity like this for-" He glanced at Annabeth and kept talking.
"I mean-not the end of the world because that would be crazy. IT's only happened a million times. The end of the world I mean. I just want her to grow up like us and be adventurous like her parents and to have a chance at love and-" He abruptly stopped. Annabeth was staring at him with annoyed parent look on her face.Obviously, she was the more responsible parent.

She turned to me.

"K.C. We will think about this and-"

"Wait. I interrupted her.

"With all due respect, mom. The world might end because these demigods don't know who they are, that means not many people can fight this spirit without them. We need to find this spirit. What could go wrong?" Then I stopped.

"And I know exactly who to talk to about this." I ran to grab my lucky blue plaid jacket and raced out the door before either of them could respond.
