   *Madelyn POV*

Madelyn was horrible with a sword. She figured from reading the books it would be easy. She was wrong. When was she ever right? She had no idea what to do. But Percy was kind and patient. She learned some but they had 8 days and the sun was already setting over Camp Half-Blood. His blade and hers collided and it made her hair stand on end. Her teeth clattered as shivers when up and down her body. She shook off the daze and tried to focus. Another blow. She stumbled across the marble. If she was a demigod, she was the worst one ever. But then it hit her. She was always good with a bow. Her father took her bow hunting every summer.

"Percy. Can I maybe try a bow?" He agreed quickly. Maybe she was a daughter Apollo or Artemis. She didn't know and she probably wouldn't find out since the gods were fighting. They all went down to the archery range. Some Apollo kids were shooting and making a bullseye every time. Rael was also there.

"Hey Madelyn! Want to try?"

She sighed a sigh of relief. She knew she would be safe with Rael. She was lead her to a place where they had different bows. Rael picked one up and gave it to her.

"This one should be good. Have you shot before?"

"Yeah my dad took me all time.-" then she stopped. If Apollo was her dad, then why did she have a mortal dad? Must be the spell Manasseh put over most the demigods. It made her mad. She couldn't wait to give Manasseh a punch in the nose.

*K.C. POV*

The next 5 days were exhausting. We trained. And trained. And trained for this war. Right now I'm walking to the area to practice with my dad and Addison. As I walked in, something was off. Percy didn't seem enthusiastic and as encouraging as usual. There were dark circles were his sea green eyes. He scowled at me when I entered the area. Addison didn't look too good either. The way they looked at me made my skin crawl.

I stepped cautiously towards him. He smiled. But it was creepy. I felt fear in the pit of my stomach. I raised my blade. He did the same. We battled until sunset. The last few minutes changed our relationship. He knocked me down and pointed his sword at my chest.

"Come on K.C. is this really the best you can do?" He taunted.

"We been fighting for days! If I could just rest-" I shot back.

"Manasseh isn't resting. He's preparing for battle. We should too and you not fighting means being killed." He snapped. I fought back tears. My dad wasn't in control anymore. Manasseh was corrupting him, just like Nico. Addison noticed this.

"You say that like its a bad thing, K.C. I'm so scared." He added sarcastically. He met my eyes. He laughed.

"Are you going to cry, little girl?" He started imitating crying. But then he stopped instantly. The color flooded back into his face. As did Percy's. You could see on their faces they regretted the words that were said.

There were also very confused. They stared at me.

"What just happened?" Percy exclaimed. Then he looked at me again. "K.C you look so-" He stumbled toward me and pulled me close to his chest.

"You must be exhausted. With everything that's been going on....you need to rest. Go see Nico. Talk to him. He can help in any way he can." I could barely think. When he let me go, I nearly fell over. He caught me.

"Woah! K.C. You can't even stand up right." I pulled away.

"I'll be fine, I just need to see Nico." I made for the door. Every muscle ached. But I had to keep going. I expected Percy to say something, but he didn't. I wondered what was going on with them. I wanted to help them so badly but I didn't know how to.
