Scenes 20-26

SCENE TWENTY:

INT. HALLWAY - NIGHT

JAMON and EVA walk down the hallway, a few feet between them. Except for the occasional passersby, the hallway is empty. They arrive at the classroom, where the TEACHER is waiting for them.

TEACHER:

Glad to see you actually

Showed up, Jamon. (BEAT)

You'll be in Room 129 with

The others.

EVA:

The others?

JAMON:

(after they are out of

The hearing range of the

TEACHER) They have a system

Of putting all the kids

Who got detention that

Day in one classroom.

EVA:

Can they do that?

JAMON:

Their school, their

Rules, I guess.

The two walk down the hall and enter the classroom, where students are working on homework, talking, and laughing. The whole rooms comes INTO VIEW with JAMON and EVA standing in the doorway.

EVA:

This is detention?

JAMON smiles. The two of them make their way over to a table where VEGAS is sitting.

EVA:

You have detention too?

VEGAS:

Actually, the more

Important question

Is why do you have

Detention? I thought

You were a goody-two-

Shoes.

EVA:

Ask him. (points to

Jamon, who is looking

around)

JAMON:

It wasn't entirely my

Fault. You guys are

The ones who are ignoring

Me!

VEGAS turns away and works on her homework as EVA sits by her. JAMON sits down next to EVA, despite the dirty look she gives him. JAMON starts to speak, but VEGAS interrupts him.

VEGAS:

(red-faced and angry)

Can't you just give it

Up already? We've

Established that we

Don't want to be friends

With you, so go and

Talk to your hundred

Other ones!

JAMON:

(smiles) But you see,

You're different.
