SCENE EIGHT:
INT. EVA AND VEGAS'S DORM - MORNING
It is the early hours of the morning. We see VEGAS sitting on the bed, putting on her shoes. As she walks out, she glances back at EVA, who is sleeping in her bed.
SCENE NINE:
CUT TO:
INT. KYLE AND JAMON'S DORM - CONTINUOUS
JAMON gets up from his bed and walks to the door. The camera ZOOMS IN on the closed door before CUTTING TO:
SCENE TEN:
EXT. THE CORNER - DAY
JAMON and KYLE sit on 'The Corner,' a street corner where the kids of Devon hang out on their days off. The camera focuses on their backs and you can see a crowd of people in the distance. CUT TO:
SCENE ELEVEN:
EXT. SIDEWALK - DAY
VEGAS walks along the sidewalk. The viewer can only see from her upper thigh to her mid-forearm. She rips papers down as she goes. The camera moves as a paper falls. ZOOM IN on the crumpled up paper, which has a picture of a smiling teen boy with blue hair and piercings all over. CUT TO:
SCENE TWELVE:
EXT. THE CORNER - DAY
You see VEGAS from afar. CUT TO: JAMON and KYLE give each other a look as she comes closer. CUT TO: VEGAS is very close. CUT TO: People whispering and laughing. The camera moves and stops on one boy.
CALLUM:
What is she, Chinese?
CUT TO JAMON, who is tensing up. VEGAS whips around and storms up to CALLUM. ZOOM IN on their faces.
VEGAS:
What am I? I am Vegas
Yamada, and I am Japanese.
I am Vegas Yamada and I am
Ready to beat-
VEGAS pauses, realizing that her fist is inches from CALLUM'S face. She pulls away and takes a step back. CALLUM is shaken.
VEGAS:
Just for future reference,
I don't put up with jerks
Like you. So next time you
Want to pull something like
That, I won't stop myself.
VEGAS walks off. A few people clap, but are quickly shushed by the crowd. ZOOM IN on JAMON'S face. CUT TO:
SCENE THIRTEEN:
EXT. STREET - DAY
VEGAS is walking very fast, occasionally ripping down a paper. JAMON runs behind her to catch up.
JAMON:
Vega! Hey Vega, wait up!
JAMON finally catches up to VEGAS. He is breathing heavily and puts his hands on his knees. VEGAS keeps walking.
JAMON:
Come on, do you really
Have to do that? I just
Want to talk to you!
VEGAS:
(turning around) And
Embarrass me in front
Of all your friends again?
Thanks, but no thanks.
I bet you have people hiding
In the bushes just begging
To see me slip up again.
JAMON:
No, I don't. They're
Not real friends of
Mine anyway. (as Vegas
Starts walking away) No,
