SCENE SEVENTY TWO

EXT. GRAVEYARD – EVENING

JAMON and EVA are dressed in black, as well as various other such as MACIE, SOPHIA, (Kyle's brother), and others from Devon. EVA has tears streaming down her face, while JAMON'S face is hardened.

EVA:

Do you think they're

Really dead?

JAMON:

To this world, yes.

EVA:

But-

JAMON:

I don't want to think

About the impossible

Right now.

EVA turns away from him.

JAMON:

(BEAT)

I'm leaving Devon.

EVA:

What?

JAMON:

There are too many...

Memories here. Too

Many reminders. I'd

Be better off distancing

Myself from everyone else.

EVA:

Even- even me?

JAMON'S silence is a confirmation.

EVA:

But why? How could

You-

JAMON:

I'm sorry, Eva, but I

Can't do this anymore.

EVA turns away, tears pouring down her face. JAMON walks away, not looking back. FADE OUT:

SCENE SEVENTY THREE

INT. JAMON'S APARTMENT – DAY

JAMON sifts through mail on his table, still in black. At the bottom, there is a thick envelope. He drops the other mail and holds it up. ANGLE ON: The return address says Estella Bird. JAMON hesitates, then rips it open. Inside are fourteen handwritten pages. He reads them.

ESTE'S VOICE:

My dearest brother,

Have you ever lied?

Because I have. More

Than I ever thought possible.

FADE IN: ESTE is walking around, looking around, then ducking into a place.

ESTE:

It started when our father

Died. No, when he was killed.

I felt so bad for you, I had

To leave a happy memory for you.

It turns out, all your memories

Became sad. As you probably

Know by now, all children of

The Society have to be left behind,

Unless they are to help inside

It. Soon after you left, out

Mother started grooming me to

MICAH is coaching her, ESTE breaking down into tears, then MICAH hitting her, yelling.

ESTE:

If you're reading this, I'll

Be in the Space Between. You've

Cannot go again. Your friends

Are gone forever, but I assume

You have figured that out yourself.

VEGAS and KYLE are looking around wildly at their strange surroundings that change constantly.

ESTE:

But Micah had other ideas.

However, with the powers I

ESTE stares at an image of JAMON roaring with laughter with his friends.

ESTE:

ESTE surrounded by white, staring at everything and nothing.

FADE TO: JAMON, slowly setting the papers down on the table. Then, in a flurry of motion, he flings the door open and runs out, leaving the door open behind him LINGER ON: The open door for a moment, then FADE TO: black.
