So as all self harmers know, stopping is a very hard thing to do. You become addicted. This is how I'm trying to stop.
I wrote down some things that I like to do and I taped them to the drawer where I hide my "tool". So every time I go to grab it, the note reminds me that I should do something different.
I color and listen to music to help distract myself. It helped me a couple of times and currently, I am 5 days clean. The longest I've went is a little over a month.
Another way to try and stop is to set goals for yourself. Mark down the days you do it. See what day/time you do it most frequently. When that day/time comes around, go with friends, text friends, listen to uplifting music, watch a happy movie, anything to make you not think about it.
STAY POSITIVE!! I know this is extremely hard to do sometimes, but you need to try. Stay strong. You can make it through this. 💪❤
