The air was warm, a refreshing touch in the breeze that blew the heat away. Jimin took in a deep breath, basking in the rays of the sun and loving the way the wind blew through his hair. He had agreed the night before to help his father organize the kitchen and the storage den. The pack was already lively, some members greeting him as he made his way to meet his father. He stopped short in his trek, eyeing the alpha that had stepped in his way to stop him. The alpha in question was someone he knew all too well, and he was not surprised to see him so soon after the courting announcement. Every year since he had presented as an omega, the alpha had shown keen interest in him. And at the start of every courting season, he always made sure to be the first to offer the first courting gift. This year he looked a bit rough around the edges, hair longer than usual but his smile was just as shy as he offered him a small basket full of strawberries. They looked juicy and there was no doubt that they were a courting gift for him.
"Mornin' Jimin." Jae smiled at him shyly.
"Hey."
"I picked some strawberries for you this morning. I stumbled upon them while hunting and tried one, they're really sweet and I'm sure you'd enjoy them."
"Oh?"
"Please accept them." Jae holds the small basket filled with strawberries out to him like an offering to a god.
"I don't know if I should take them, I don't want to give you any false hope." Jimin looks down as the guilt begins to seep in his gut, it never was easy to reject an alpha. He knew it took courage to approach him, and he didn't want to belittle their feelings.
"No-no, don't feel like that, I want you to have them."
"Are you sure?" Jimin asks and Jae nods vigorously at him and he reaches for them carefully, "Thank you, I'll enjoy them."
Jae smiles at him full of content and turns to walk away, probably on his way to finish his chores. Jimin looks down at the strawberries and brings one up to taste, they are indeed really sweet. His father would probably use them to make more jam, or even a pie for dessert. As he keeps walking he sees the second group of hunters have returned and sees Jungkook hauling some of their kills with a few other alphas. He looked around for his brothers and when all seemed clear he stared towards him but stopped when someone called out to him. He turned, seeing another alpha named Dongho running up to him with a hand behind his back.
"Hey Dongho" Jimin says, straining to smile.
"Hiya Jimin, so how's your morning so far?"
"Nothing interesting has happened yet so it's been okay."
"Cool, I just got back from hunting and I got you something."
"What is it?" Jimin curls up an eyebrow.
"I got you a rabbit." he says, bringing the rabbit out from behind his back.
"You really shouldn't have done that" Jimin shakes his head as he stares at the dead rabbit being offered to him.
"Please accept it. I don't expect anything in return, I only hope for one thing." Dongho pleads with his eyes as he looks at him.
"What is it?"
"Please don't ignore me during courting."
"I...I'll try but I can't promise anything."
"Then here." Dongho nods to him and Jimin grabs the rabbit.
Don't Ho smiles slightly and walks away to where a group of alphas were cutting wood. Jimin knew he hated this part of courting, he had to deal with constant gifts and random displays of affection from alphas that were interested in him. He always felt as if he was receiving too much without being able to give something back. Worse than that, many omegas seemed to scoff at him getting so much attention from so many alphas.
