The broken regalia {Yukine x reader}

Chapter 7

The woman took me to a table and instructed me on what to do when I took an order. I took some orders and brought them to the kitchen. After I got the hang of it the woman left me to do more orders. The bell on the door rang and I went up to the door to greet the customer. "Welcome, please take a set and your order will be taken soon." I smile kindly as I handed him a menu.

I handed a few more orders to Yukine as he helped out in the kitchen, "Miss, I'm ready to take my order." Said one of the customers. I walked over to them, I could feel people's stare at my outfit as I made my way to the table. He gave me his order and I wrote it down to give to Yukine. "Your order will be here soon." And with that, I spun around and headed to the kitchen.

I gave Yukine the order, "How's your part of the job going?" I asked Yukine as I waited for the order. " It's alright I guess, I'm actually enjoying the cooking part." He responded while paying attention to the frying pan.

He finished the order and I took it to the customer. The woman from before came back to me and looked worried. "Can you please help out in the kitchen, someone just called in sick. We can handle the orders from here" She looked hopeful that I answered with a yes, I didn't mind cooking at all.

"Yeah sure, just let me get changed first." I turned around to get changed but she pulled me back. "There's no time, just go into the kitchen!" I did as she said and walked into the kitchen.

"Hey, I'm helping you out in here for a bit," I told Yukine about the worker not being here and he understood. "Okay, the cafe has grown quieter now so I doubt that we have much to do." I noticed that he was still averting his gaze from my costume, so I put an apron on to cover it.

A few more orders came in and we got through them quickly. I thought for a bit while I was just standing around, aha! "How about we make a cake for Kofuku to thank her for letting us stay at her place," I suggested. Yukine's eyes opened wider as I explained the recipe.

We began to gather ingredients for the cake and started to mix it together. "Can you pass me the flour?" Yukine asked me from across the room. "Sure" I yelled back and passed it to him, but I slipped on the floor, knocking the flour and Yukine over in doing so. Once the flour dust cleared I saw Yukine in the ground, underneath me? Then I realised that his face was really close to my face.

I felt a small pressure on my lips as my eyes opened wider. I jumped away from him instantly and buried my face in my hands. "S-S- sorry Yukine, I didn't mean to knock you over I'm so sorry." My muffled voice panicked through my hands. There was no response so I lifted my head up to see if I hurt Yukine.

He was leaning up against one of the cupboards with his fingers up against his lips and his face.....was as red as ever, so was mine. Our eyes met and then our heads bolted away from each other's gaze. We ended up cleaning up the mess and didn't finish the cake, we walked out of the cafe in complete silence. The worst part of it was that it was an awkward silence too. 'Does he hate me for doing this?' Was all that went through my head as we walked back to Kofuku's shrine.

" Hey, how did you guys go," Yato asked both of us and hugged us at the same time. The two of us couldn't even speak after that incident so we just stood there. I could hear a small whisper from Yato to Yukine, "y'know, I got stung a few times while you were gone, what did you do?" Yato questioned Yukine. My face burned at the sentence that was said.

I broke from the hug and slowly walked up to our room. "What's up with y/n?" Yato asked. "S-she was working really hard today so I think she taking a rest." I heard Yukine answer, just hearing the nervousness in his voice when he said that made my face burn like a million suns.

'I really hope he forgets about what happened today' I thought to myself as I changed into pyjamas and fell asleep.
