A Railgun in Fairy Tail Book 3: Bridge Between Worlds

1st Battle Event: Nicole Mavros V.S. Chelia Blendy

"So what did I miss?"

Mikoto and the rest of team Fairy Tail were standing at their area in the stands as they waited for the second event of the day to start.

"Oh..nothing much. " said Gray. "Ichiya snuck over and started sniffing Erza.

"Let me guess...." said Mikoto. "That's the reason he now has a black eye the size of Tokyo."

"Pretty much."

"What's with the second black eye?"

"Don't you remember?" said Wendy. "Ichiya snuck over here and started sniffing you right after we came out just now...."

"Oh yeah......that creep."

"Anyways." Gray continued. "They're about to start the battle event. After every event  there is always a one on one match between two selected guild members."

"How do they decide who fights who?" Said Mikoto. "Is it all just random?"

"Actually it's selected by the popular vote of the audience." said Gray. "So most of the matchups you see are what the fans would most want to happen. Because of that, sometimes you might have the same guy go twice.. At other times, the king is the guy who gets to specially request a certain matchup."

"I wonder who they'll pick..." said Mikoto.

Erza looked at Mikoto with a slight worried look in her eyes.

"Hey.." said Gray noticing Erza's apprehension. "What's up? You've been looking at Mikoto like that for the past 15 minutes."

"You know how the audience tends to pair match-ups...." said Erza. "If I'm right, they'll probably make Mikoto fight......."

"Yeah..." said Gray. "That Nicole girl....But she wouldn't be allowed to try anything in front of all these people."

"I don't know..." said Erza peering at the area where Fright Face stood. "I've seen eyes like her's before......"

Nicole Mavros was looking back at the Fairy Tail Guild. Her eyes looked cold and dark, as if she wanted to shut Mikoto Misaka into an unending nightmare where the screaming never stopped.

Mikoto noticed the stare and shivered slightly. It wouldn't do to let something like that bother her now..... She was at the Grand Magic Games for petes sake. She was supposed to be having fun......

"And now without further ado!!" said the announcer. "We will be announcing the first battle event!!"

"Please be me vs Rogue...." said Natsu clasping his hands in prayer. "Please be me vs Rogue....." (Sting can't participate this year because he is currently the Master of Sabertooth, and rules do not allow guild masters to participate.)

"The first battle will be Nicole Mavros of Fright Face vs Chelia Blendy of Lamia Scale!!!"

"Darn it!!" muttered Natsu kicking a pebble on the ground.

Erza and Gray looked at each other. This was not what they had been expecting.

"Chelia?" Said Mikoto. "She's that Sky God Slayer isn't she? The one with the red hair who gets along with Wendy alot?"

"Why would they have her of all people battle Chelia?" said Gray. "I mean I get Chelia's strong....but this is still an odd choice."

Chelia walked out onto the field waving at the crowd cheerfully. When she saw Wendy in the stands, she started jumping up and down waving both her hands happilly. "HIIII WENDY!!!"

Wendy waved back as well looking absolutely ecstatic. "Good luck!!!"

Nicole walked onto the field with a completely opposite attitude to that of Chelia's. Her cold indifferent demeanor seemed to to eminate another feeling.....as if she was angry at something. Mikoto thought she knew what was up. Nicole was pissed that she wasn't facing Mikoto in the battle round.
