Loving Lockwood

I woke up on Jess's couch and his arm was still wrapped around me. I grab my phone off of the coffee table and it's already 7 am. Shit..... I carefully get off of the couch and try to leave quietly but I stub my toe on the coffee table.

"Shit." I say loudly.

Jess stirs a little and then his eyes open.

"Are you trying to leave me, Ms. Mauney?" He asked as he sat up.
"Kinda." I said and smiled.
"I texted JB last night saying that I was looking after you." Jess said and smiled,
"Oh." I said and sat back down beside him.
"Kenzie, would you like some breakfast?" He asked.
"Yes. I'm starving." I said and smiled.
"You sit tight, and I'll cook for you darlin." Jess said.

I watched as he cooked bacon, sausage, eggs, and pancakes. I also snapped a picture of him cooking and put it on my Snapchat story.

"Do you like the view, Mackenzie?" Jess asked.
"Yes, I do." I answered and winked.

Soon, Jess finished cooking and he brought me a plate with a lot of food on it. I took a bite of the sausage and it tasted amazing.

"Can I live with you?" I asked jokingly with my mouth full of pancake.
"If you want to." Jess answered and chuckled.

I finished eating at about the same time that Jess did.

"Thank you so much. It tasted amazing." I said as he took my plate and put it in the sink.
"I'm glad you liked everything. We'll have to do it again." Jess said and smiled.
"I should go back to my trailer and change." I said and stood up.
"Kenzie, can I get your number before you leave?" Jess asked and held out his phone.

I typed my number in and handed his phone back to him.

"Thanks. I'll text you later." He said before kissing my cheek.
"I hope so." I said before leaving his trailer.

When I got back to my trailer, JB wasn't even up yet.
I grabbed a pair of jeans, a t-shirt, and undergarments and went to the bathroom. I took a quick shower before putting on my clothes and putting my hair into a braid. As I left the bathroom, my phone dinged. I had a text from an unknown number.

Hey, it's jess. I miss you already

Hey, Jess. Do you want to come over to my trailer for lunch? I'll cook for you. 😊

I'd love to. What time?

Does 12:00 work?

That'll work. I'll see you then, Ms. Mauney😉

"Who are you texting?" JB asked.
"No one." I answered.
"Bull shit. I've never seen you this happy. Did you get some last night?" JB asked.
"No." I answered and smiled.
"How's Mr. Lockwood?" He asked.
"Jess is amazing. I'm starting to like him." I answered and smiled.
"Just don't hurt him, Mac. He's a nice guy." JB said.
"I don't plan on hurting him. Also, he's coming over for lunch at 12:00." I said.
"I'll probably go get something from the concession then." JB says.
"JB, you can eat with us." I offered.
"It's okay little sis." JB said before heading to the bathroom.

A couple minutes before 12, there's a knock on the trailer door.

"It's open." I call.

The door opens, and Jess walks in.

"Howdy, darlin." He greets.
"I'd hug you, but I'm cooking." I said and smiled.

Jess came up and hugged me from behind.

"What are we having for lunch?" He asked.
"Hamburgers and Mac and cheese." I answered.
"You sure know how to get to a man's heart, Mackenzie." Jess said and smiled.

I went outside and quickly got the hamburgers off of the grill. I took them back inside and sat them on the table.

"Eat up." I told Jess.

We each grabbed two hamburgers and some Mac and cheese before sitting down on the couch. We ate in silence and when we finished, I put our plates in the sink.

"The food was amazing, Kenzie." Jess said as I sat back down beside him.
"Thanks. I'm glad you liked it." I said and blushed.
"Are you traveling with JB all season." Jess asked.
"Ya. We have to pick up his girlfriend before the next event though, so that'll be fun." I said and rolled my eyes.
"You can travel with me. It'd be nice to have a partner while on the road." He offered.
"Are you sure? I don't want to be a burden." I said.
"It'll be great, Kenzie." Jess said and smiled.
"Okay. I'll travel with you." I said.
"Yay." Jess cheered.
