"Jess, you're up in an hour. What's taking so long?" I asked from outside the bathroom.

Then, I heard him throw up.

"Honey, do you want me to come in?" I asked.
"No. You can't see me like this. I think I have the flu." He said softly.
"Is there anything I can do?" I asked.
"Go to the press box and tell them that I can't compete." Jess said.
"Okay. I'm gonna head down there. If you need anything, call me." I said before leaving the trailer.

I quickly walked down to the arena and located the press box. I walked up the steep stairs and opened the door before stepping inside. One of the older guys looked over at me.
"Hi. I'm Mackenzie Mauney, I'm dating Jess Lockwood. He won't be able to compete tonight because he has the flu." I said.
"Ma'am, we have to hear Mr.Lockwood say that. We can't take your word for it." The guy said.
"He's in the trailer throwing up. He can't come down here." I snapped.
"Call him." The guy said.

I pulled out my phone and called Jess.
"Hello." He said softly.
"Hey. You need to talk to this guy over the phone. He won't believe me." I said and handed my phone to the press box guy.

He talked to Jess for a couple minutes before hanging up and giving me my phone back.

"Thank you ma'am." He said and I could tell that he was irritated.

I left the press box without saying a word. I hurried back to the trailer and found Jess laying on the couch.

"Hi sweetie." I greeted.
"Darling, could you get me a blanket?" He asked and shivered.

I grabbed the blanket off of our bed and covered Jess up. Then I curled up beside him.

"Kenz, don't lay by me. You're going to get sick." Jess scolded.
"It's fine. We are living together, so I'm probably gonna get it anyways." I said softly.

Soon we both fell asleep and when I woke up, I could tell that I had a fever. SHIT.
I got up and took my temperature. Sure enough, 100.4 degrees. I take some Tylenol and laid back down beside Jess. I fell asleep quickly.

I got up when I heard a thud on the floor. Jess had fallen off the couch. I helped him up before getting off the couch and running to the bathroom. I threw up until there was nothing left in my stomach. I still need to try to compete in 2 hours. I leave the bathroom and drink tons of water.

Then, I start to get ready for my tie- down run. I put on a purple button-up shirt, a pair of nice jeans, and my boots. I go outside and get Taz ready. As I'm warming up, I start to get a little queasy but I let it subside. I rope first, so I go to the box and wait till things are set up. The announcer announces my name and I twirl my rope around. When I'm ready, I nod my head and the calf is released. I take off after it and when I release the rope, I miss. I turn around and ride out of the exit gate.

As soon as I exit, I have to lean over and throw up. This isn't a fun weekend.
