Loving Lockwood

The first round of riding starts in an hour, and I can't wait to see Jess again. I have on a tank top, shorts, and cowboy boots. I follow JB to behind the chutes and I immediately spot Jess. He motions for me to come over to him.

"Howdy." He greets.
"It's nice to see you again." I say and smile.
"Mackenzie, will you hold my cowboy hat for me while I ride." He asked nervously.
"Of course, and you can call me Mac or Kenzie." I said and smiled as Jess put his hat on my head.
"I was wondering if you'd like to go out with me after I ride?" Jess asked.
"I'd love to." I answered and touched his forearm lightly.
"I'm up first, so I need to go stretch. I'll meet you at your trailer after I ride." He said and gave me a quick hug.
"Okay. Good luck, Jess." I said and smiled.

I walked back over to JB and one of his friends.

"Are you and Lockwood a thing?" JB asked.
"No. I just met him yesterday." I answered.
"Why are you wearing his hat?" JB's friend asked.
"Because I can." I responded and walked away.

I stood by the arena fence and watched as Jess climbed into the chute. I heard the bull kicking around and it sounded pretty mean. Jess lightly nodded his head and the chute opened quickly. The bull did several 180s and 360s, but Jess held on. After 8 seconds, the timer went off and Jess jumped off.

"Ladies and gentlemen that was rookie Jess Lockwood riding Hell's angel." The announcer said.

I walked back behind the chutes and found Jess taking off his vest, helmet, and chaps.

"Hey." I greeted.
"Hi Kenzie." He says and smiles.
"That was an amazing ride." I complimented and hugged him.
"Thanks. I'm gonna head to my trailer and change. I'll meet you at your trailer in 30 minutes. Wear something nice." Jess said and winked before walking away.

I went to my trailer and put on a sundress and a pair of sandals. I quickly straighten my hair and put on light makeup. Right as I finish my makeup, there's a knock on the door. I open it to reveal Jess.

"Hi darling." He greets.
"Howdy." I say and hand him his hat back.
"You ready to go?" Jess asks and holds out his hand.

I nod and grab his hand.
We walk out of the trailer and Jess leads me to his truck.

"Thank you." I say as he opens my door.

Jess gets in and starts the truck.

"Where are we going?" I asked.
"You'll find out."' He said as we pulled out of the rodeo grounds.
"Do you have an aux cord?" I asked.
"Yes. It's in the console." Jess answered.

I opened the console and pulled out the aux cord before plugging everything in.
Then, I picked my favorite song. When the stars go blue by Tim McGraw.

"I love this song." Jess said as it began to play.

We both sang along and it was a lot of fun.

Jess pulls in to Texas Roadhouse and I smile.

"Nice choice." I say.

Jess gets out and opens my door before grabbing my hand and leading me inside. We get seated at a booth and we both order a Dr.Pepper.

"What are you getting?" I asked.
"Probably a steak. What about you?" Jess asked.
"Probably a steak with a baked potato." I said and smiled.

Soon we order and Jess and I talked until our food arrived. The steak tasted amazing and I think Jess thought the same thing.

"Jess, you have food all over your face." I said.
"Can you help me get it off?" He asked and gave me puppy dog eyes.

I reached across the table with a napkin and wiped his face off.
Soon the bill came and Jess and I argued about paying.

"I'll pay for half." I suggested.
"No you will not. I invited you to come so I'll pay for everything." Jess argued.
"Jess." I whined.
"I never let the lady pay." He said as he slipped the money into the holder.

We left Texas Roadhouse and headed back to the rodeo grounds.
After he parked his truck, Jess looked over at me.

"Do you want to come into my trailer and watch a movie?" He asked.
"I'd love to." I said and we got out of the truck.

Jess led me into the trailer and we took our shoes off.

"You can sit on the couch while I find something to watch." Jess offered.

I sat down on the couch and looked around his camper.

"It's a very nice place." I complimented. "Thanks." Jess said and blushed.

He finally found a movie and put it in before sitting down beside me.

"Can I put my arm around you?" He asked politely and I nodded.

Jess's arm slipped around my waist and I smiled softly. We began to watch the movies and I could feel my eyes begin to get heavy.

I can't fall asleep.

After the movie was over, I snuggled into Jess's side and quickly fell asleep.
