** 500 reads!!! Yay! Thanks for hanging in there with me. Please feel free to leave comments. So far I'm just writing what I like to read, but I'd be glad to change things up for requests.**
Delilah's POV
Daryl and I napped with Mercy between us on the bed for an hour and a half. I could have easily slept for another twelve hours before feeling human again. I went out to the garage while Daryl was in the shower and put a few finishing touches on my outfit. At the fabric store I had found a huge bolt of a pale, blush colored silk sari material with a gold thread lotus design. I had used it to make a wrap around skirt. It was fitted from my waist to my hips, then flared into a swirl of fabric at the hem. I had added an extra panel on the side that could be lifted in front and dropped over my shoulder to use as a breastfeeding cover if needed. I used the same material for the shirt. It was short sleeved and fitted, with a deep scooped neck, and buttoned up the front. It showed about an inch of my toned midriff.
Daryl had finished in the shower. We had already messed up the whole "bad luck to see the bride" on the wedding day thing. I refused to let him see me in my dress before the ceremony. I nursed the baby while he got dressed. Our plan was to have Roe walk me down the aisle carrying Mercy in his other arm. Then he could hold her through the ceremony.
I looked up at my gorgeous groom as he finished buttoning his shirt. I could tell by the way he was flexing and stretching his arms that he was anticipating how long it would be before he could rip the sleeves out of this one too. I chuckled to myself. "Darlin', it's ok if ya wanna roll up those sleeves. Won't be as good as sleeveless, but it should make it comfortable enough ta get ya through the day."
He smiled and rolled up the sleeves. "Told ya before that you're perfect for me Doc."
I dressed Mercy in one of the new dresses I had made for her, then handed her to Daryl. "Ok, my turn ta get ready. Send Michonne this way if you see her. I'll see ya at the gazebo in about thirty minutes."
Daryl nodded and smiled as he kissed me good bye. "Just think, the next time I kiss ya, I'll be kissin' my wife!" He said incredulously.
I gave him a playful shove towards the door. "Yeah, but if you don't get over there your wife is gonna be late, and all those folks are gonna think I got cold feet and stood ya up."
He paused and looked at me. "But ya wouldn't have second thoughts, would ya Doc? If ya are, I wish ya'd tell me now."
I looked directly into his eyes. "Daryl Dixon, I am marryin' you today. And then you're gonna be stuck with me till death do us part for sure, cuz there ain't no such thing as lawyers and divorce no more. Now git yer sweet ass out the door and let me get ready!"
He chuckled and kissed me one last time. "Ya sure are sexy when yer bossy Smokestack." He patted my ass and headed out the door.
I giggled as he closed the door behind him, then ran to the shower to get ready. As I got out of the shower I heard a knock on the door and ran to answer it wrapped only in a bath towel.
Thank goodness it was only Michonne. "I'm so glad you're here!"
She laughed. "Not sure how much help I'll be, but I'm here for moral support."
I hugged her and headed back into the bedroom. "Well good. Cuz that's what I need more than anything else. And ideas for what ta do with my hair."
Michonne shook her dreads. "Not sure ya picked the right maid for that task." She joked.
I laughed with her. "Well, you can give me your opinion on what you think looks best with my outfit. Let me get dressed first, then I'll work on my hair."
