Delilah's POV
We finished our dance, and for the next several songs I was claimed by most of the men present for dances. I noticed that Daryl was dancing with some of the women also. Everyone seemed to be having a great time and we began to wonder if they were ever going to let us sneak away.We cut our cake and only smashed enough into each other's faces to give us an excuse to lick frosting off each other. We looked around the room at the smiling faces of those who we loved. I was so happy that the celebration of our marriage had brought them joy.
Rick and Michonne sat on a bench, his arm around her waist. Maggie and Jesus sat across from them laughing. Carol and Tobin were dancing and smiling into each other's eyes. Carl and Max had become friends and were standing back against the wall smiling and comparing opinions on the local young ladies. Lyric sat near Roe, listening to the music with a slight smile on her face.
I turned to Daryl. "So... I've been wonderin' what exactly my brother whispered into your ear ta make ya smile so big when he gave me over to ya?"
Daryl blushed slightly and smiled. "Well... ya gotta promise ya ain't gonna get mad..."
I shook my head. "Oh no way! I ain't makin' no promises when it comes ta y'all two without knowin' in advance what I'm promisin'."
Daryl chuckled. "Ok. He just asked me if I was finally gonna bang his sister tonight."
I blushed five shades of red. "He asked that did he? The ass hat!" Daryl laughed.
Father Gabriel approached us just then."I just wanted to thank you two again for taking this step. Your ceremony and reception were just what this community needed. I'm certain that there will be many more couples in the future who will choose to follow your example."
We nodded together. Daryl responded, "Well you're welcome Father. But we didn't do this as an example for everyone else ta follow. We did it because it was something we wanted for our relationship. If it just happened to make other people happy also, then that's just a bonus."
Roe got my attention and waved me over. "Hey, Just wanted to let you know that I arranged to spend the night at Aaron and Erik's house tonight ta give you and Daryl a little more privacy for your wedding night. Did y'all want me ta take Mercy along with me too?"
I shrugged. "Ya know, I think we'll be ok. She's had a busy day. I'm pretty sure she'll sleep through the night without any problems. I'm also pretty sure Daryl will be able ta finally bang yer sister without any interruptions." I raised one eyebrow at him.
He had the good grace to blush. "Ya know I was just playin'! But it's no problem if ya decide later that you wanna bring her by. How 'bout one last song?" He had always been good at changing the subject.
Roe began to play a song that we had always loved to sing together because of the beautiful harmony. As I sang the first lines of Fade Into You my eyes found Daryl across the room, and we began to move towards each other. Conversations around the room stopped.
If you were the ocean and I was the sun
If the day made me heavy and gravity won
If I was the red and you were the blue
I could just fade into youDaryl and I reached each other. Without speaking a word he pulled me into his arms and we swayed together as the music continued.
