///narcissist is my favorite word. it means that you love and think highly of yourself.
///the story of narcissus and the flowers around the lake have stuck deeply with me since i first read the story in third grade-
///narcissus is sitting by a lake one day when he notices his own reflection in the water. he is so awestruck by his own beauty that he watches his reflection for the rest of eternity, although other versions say narcissus dies and the water weeps for him. other versions say a young maiden weeps his loss instead, refilling the lake for the rest of her days.
///either way, narcissus loved herself so much, he wouldn't stop looking at himself.
/// i think such confidence in yourself means you don't need to rely on others' opinions and you're independent in your own abilities.
///narcissus knew he was beautiful, although throughout history, people had shamed him for it.
///narcissist became a word of self-indulgence instead of self-confidence: a thought i recur often. the flowers that grew in narcissus' spot of eternal self love were named after him for their beauty.
///and even though narcissist still means to be self-indulgent in an almost sinful and shameful manner, it is still my favorite word.
///it reminds myself to love the person i see, not to care of others' opinions too much. so, narcissus wasn't that bad.prompt; write a college admission's essay on •what frustrates you?
