Chapter 4

I slowly turned around to face the man behind me.

"Look, I don't want any trouble." I said slowly.

"Trouble? No. I want the truth. I want the truth about everything. The scars, the fire, and you." Zeke said.

How had he found me so quick? I thought it would take at least a few minutes for them to check Megan in with the ER nurse.

"I need to call Megan's parents."

"They're already here. They saw you pull your Houdini act. I heard you're quite stubborn. They asked me to come get you so you can be seen by a doctor. I promise it won't hurt and plus I'll be by your side the whole time." He smirked.

This is not happening... Plan B.

"Okay, would you mind if I used the little girl's room first?" I asked.

Narrowing his eyes at met Zeke agreed.

"I'll be waiting right out here though. Don't try anymore your magic tricks. We have unfinished business."

I nodded my head and entered the bathroom. I started looking around for a weapon or a way out. Something had to be of use in here. I can't get put in foster care. No paperwork will be done on me today. An older woman and what appeared to be her little granddaughter came in the door. "Hi." I mumbled at them still looking around.

"Okay, honey. I'm going to be right here in this stall. Wait right here against this wall. Okay?" the grandma said.

"Okay grandma." The little girl replied being obedient standing against the wall.

The grandma entered the farthest handicap stall. Hoping my voice wouldn't travel I leaned down to the little girl's level.

"Hey, how would you like five bucks to spend on a Barbie doll?" I whispered to her.

The little girl shook her head yes enthusiastically.

"Okay, when you and grandma go back out into the lobby I need you to pretend to fall down. I want you to fall down right in front of the man outside the bathroom door. Can you do that?" I asked her still whispering.

She shook her head yes smiling. I fished around in my pocket for a second and found a five dollar bill.

"Deal?" I asked handing her the money.

She shook her head again and pocket money in her pink dress.

A toilet flushed and the grandma came out of the stall and walked to the sink. I stood in the mirror putting my long hair up into a pony tail. The grandma washed her hands and was now drying them.

"What a good girl you are, Bella. We'll have to tell mommy how good you were while she was seeing the doctor." The woman said to her granddaughter. She grabbed the little girls hand and turned to walk out.

"Have a blessed day." She said to me.

"You too." I said smiling at her. I winked at the little girl as she went out the door. A few seconds later I heard an exclamation of pain and the deep rumble of a male voice. I opened the door slowly peeking out. Wow, the little girl definitely had a future career in acting. She was sitting on the floor crying softly holding her knee. Zeke was bent down talking to her, just as I knew he would. A doctor, nurse, EMT, can't simply ignore someone with an injury. It was ingrained in them to take care of the ill where ever they may be. I slid out the door and into the men's restroom five feet away. It will take a minute for him to find me in here leaving me enough time to escape. I just hoped no man had to pee anytime soon. The bathroom door opened. Great, I thought. Now I'm going to have to explain why I'm in here. The man's figure appeared from around the door. Today I've had the worst luck.
