Chapter 25

Klaus' POV

We enter a small property in the middle of nowhere. The area is completely clocked so not even the most powerful witches could find Rose. When I stop the car Caroline jumps out immediately. I get out of the car slowly and follow her. Caroline runs to the garden. I see Rebekah playing with Rose on the swing. 

Caroline takes Rose and places kisses on her head, hugging her softly but tight. 

I see Rebekah looking confused but when she sees me she relaxes. We all got a little paranoid since Claire returned. Except Freya. I'm not done with her yet. 

I walk to the girls and see Elijah coming out of the house. I see he got my message. 

Caroline laughs. "Hello beautiful." She whispers to Rose.

"Hello little angel." I say to Rose and I kiss her head. Caroline gives her to me not letting go of her little hand. 

"You never stop laughing, do you little one?" She says while she lights up. Her eyes sparkle again and she doesn't looks like someone just stabbed her. 

Rose laughs to everyone. "I missed you Care." Rebekah says while hugging Caroline. 

"I would have missed you to if I would have remembered you." Caroline says with a smile. 

"Hello brother" Elijah says with a small nod,"Caroline." 

"Hi Elijah." Caroline says to him,"Where are Kol and Freya?" 

"In the car love," I say. Probably killing each other.

"I'm going to get them." Elijah says.

"Not Freya," I say," Freya needs to pay for her deeds." 

"What did she do?" Rebekah asks in concern.

"She and that little Salvatore tried to lock me up," I say and I try to smile a bit.

"Why would she do that?" Caroline asks.

"To track Rose." I say,"They thought that I took her away from you."

"But that is madness Niklaus," Elijah says,"Freya already knew where Rose was why would she even try to shut you in?" 

"I really don't know Elijah." I say and Caroline takes Rose again.

"I need to confront her with this Niklaus." Elijah says.

"I know," I say,"But not now."

Not while I have my angel and my queen right next to me. Not while I send precious time with Rose. 

"Bonfire!" Rebekah screams hysterically.

"What?" I ask.

"We need to keep an bonfire!" she says.

Oh bloody hell.

Caroline's POV

Elijah decided to lock Freya up in the dungeon because she wouldn't tell anything. 

I try not to think that a maybe innocent girl is locked up. I look at Rose. We are sitting on a picnic blanket while Elijah and Klaus help Rebekah not to burn her hands on the fire. Burn wounds take a long time to heal you know. 

Rose has a little pink bottle with milk I don't remember buying in her hand and I'm putting marshmallows and sausages on sticks. 

I see Klaus walking over to me while Elijah and Rebekah are looking at the fire. 

"Hello love." He says smirking while he sits down.

"Did Rebekah bought these?" I ask

"I guess." Klaus says.

I don't know why this is bothering me. It is just that I missed so much. 

Rose puts the bottle down and she crawls to me. 

What..she crawls?

"Aw that's so cute!" I say while I pick her up.

"I didn't know she could do that." Klaus says.

I pick her up and twist around with her. 

She basically laughs from happiness. 

"That's wonderful love." Klaus says while he hugs us both.

I stare at him. 

"What is it love?" Klaus asks.

"Nothing," I say,"I'm happy." I turn my gaze to Rose. She smiles as the little happy baby that she is. 

"Care! Are the marshmallows done?" Rebekah yells.

"Yes they are. Don't scream. I'm standing right here." 

Klaus' POV

Minutes later we are all sitting in front of the fire roasting marshmallows. Kol decided to join us after Caroline told him there marshmallows.

Caroline and Rebekah are busy chatting about something. I try to listen but the only thing I hear is 'Sherlock' and 'Johnlock'. I guessing they are talking about Sherlock Holmes. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was a good friend of mine back in 1887. 

Rose crawls to me while Caroline carefully follows her with her eyes. Her gaze goes to me and I nod to her making her relax a bit. I pick up Rose and she looks at me with her big blue eyes. 

Rebekah runs into the house and Caroline sits next to me. Elijah and Kol are staying quite. 

"Auntie Rebekah is getting your plushy." Caroline says and she kisses Rose on her forehead.

Rose laughs and Caroline shines. 

Rebekah runs outside with a camera and a little pink plushy I bought for Caroline when she was 4 months pregnant. 

"Look what I found!" 

"Oh bloody hell."

Caroline's POV

"Rebekah please don't." Klaus says. 

You giggle. Rebekah took  an old camera and is now trying to get us all on the picture. 

"Maybe Nik should hold the camera Bekkah?" I say," He got the longest arms." 

"That's an great idea!" Rebekah gives the camera to Klaus and he looks at me with his puppy dog eyes. 

I give him a kiss on the cheek and whisper "I'm sorry." in his ear while Rose smiles. 

He takes the picture and Rebekah picks it up. She laughs. I take the picture from her while she won't stop laughing and give Rose to Klaus. 

On the picture you see Klaus looking angry, Elijah looking serious, Rebekah and me smiling, Rose giggling and out of nowhere Kol appears on the background like a kid. Now I have to laugh and together Rebekah and I sit down. 

"I missed you so much Care." Rebekah says while laughing so hard that  tears come out of her eyes. 

I just hug her and after a while we stop laughing. 

The boys are sitting by the fire talking and looking at us weird while Rose has fallen asleep in Klaus' arms. 

While I look at them I see everything I ever wanted. A family. Something to think at in the morning, something to wait for in the noon and something to care for in the evening. 

My little family. Broken. But so good.
