Chapter 29

Bonnie's POV

My mission. Protecting Caroline. Everything is different now. Damon has gone mad. Nobody knows where Elena or Stefan is. I don't like to speak about Tyler. Matt has moved somewhere far away and he texts once in a while. And I don't know about the others. And of course Jeremy dumped me. ON THE PHONE! He was all talking about Elena and finding that bitch. I know exactly where she is. 

I hear someone sitting beside me but I don't really pay attention. The bartender placed a drink in front of me. I didn't even know I ordered. I turn to the side and see Kol ordering. 

"Kol?" I ask a bit insecure. What is he doing here?

He stares at me for a moment. 

"Bennett witch! What a pleasure!" He says happily. What a child.

"That's what he said." I say and I let my drink slide through my throat. It's bitter and it burns but I don't care. What do I have got to lose?

"What are you doing here?" He exclaims happily and he hugs me.

Wait. Did he just...

"I could ask you the same question." I say while gentility pushing him aside.

"I live here." He says and he jumps up and down like a child.

"I forgot." I say and I go back to my drink. 

"Do you want to do something fun?" He says. I don't answer. 

"Do you want to get your powers back?" He tries again. Now I'm listening. 

"How?" I simply answer. 

"Come with me, ma'am." He picks my hand and leads my outside.

I'm feeling a bit dizzy.

Klaus' POV

We arrive at an old mansion. Caroline has never been here. I don't even think that Elijah has been here. 

At the end of the 13th century, Rebekah and Kol joined me at the hunt of werewolves. A witch had claimed that she knew how to fix my curse. We didn't knew much about it back then. We needed to hide. We found a mansion full of rich woman, knights and monks. We decided to go 'undercover'. A long story short, we killed a lot of people. Didn't end well. 

Care picks Rose up and I vampire speed around the building to check if we can use it. There haven't been people inside lately. But it will do. It is in good shape and we won't be bothered here. 

Looking behind me I see Caroline laughing. Rebekah is holding Rose's little hand and they almost look normal. I wish we could be like that. 

I speed over to them. "The cost is clear, we won't be bothered here." I say with a smile. 

"I'm going to try and call Kol." Rebekah says and she walks away. 

"Did you know that I used to go visit my uncle in the autumn?" Caroline says,"He lived in a house like this. He would take me to go and get apples in his garden or to go horse riding."

"You? On a horse?" I ask. I know that she likes horses. Of course I draw her with one, but picturing her on a horse with riding clothes is almost impossible. 

"Don't you dare laughing!" She giggles,"My mom would ride one to, if she wasn't busy."

"You miss her?" I ask. I know she does but the feeling that I can't do anything to get her back frustrates me. 

"I miss everyone who died." She says and I see tears coming into her eyes,"I miss mom, dad, I miss my friends and I even miss Jenna."

"Ssh love, it's okay." I say and she leans her head on my shoulder while a couple of silent tears escape her eyes.
