I had been traveling on feet for a while now; I had no idea how long really… maybe 3 days. Ninja’s were trained to never tire easily, so I still had energy, but it would be running low in a little while. Sighing, I tried to think of where I was going. I had no idea where I was now, and it surprised me that Ninja’s weren’t at my tail at this very moment. I guess they were all tired or something, because I knew for a fact that I was an important facet in their association. I still felt guilty for lying to my best friend, but I knew that he would try to stop me from leaving.

Not really thinking much about where I was headed, or not paying attention to my surroundings, it was a surprise when I heard the screech of tires. Looking up, a car was headed straight towards me. I didn’t even have enough time to curse before I was hit by the force. I collapsed onto the ground, stunned from the hit, but not really hurting too much. I breathed in and out, waiting for my mind to focus correctly. I heard a door slam shut and knew that the person in the car was now rushing towards me.

I still was unable to focus correctly on my thoughts, so I allowed the other thought to drift to the back of my mind. It came back a little when I heard the frantic breathing of the person who had now reached me. I wanted to look and see who this idiot was, but my mind drifted off once again. I was finally brought out of my thoughts when someone tapped me. I began to focus my eyes on the stranger hovering above me. Confusion hit my first and what the hell a girl around my age was doing hovering above me, and then I remembered what happened and cursed myself for being slow.

“Umm… are you ok?” A soft voice asked hesitantly. I looked up to meet a shocking indigo color. The girl standing in front of me, or well… above me, was absolutely gorgeous. Then after a moment, I was a little amused when she suddenly did a face-palm, and I remembered her question then. Smiling a little bit at the irony in the question and answered, unable to keep the amusement I found in the question from my voice.

“Well, considering that I was just hit by a car… I’m feeling quite wonderful.” That earned me a beautiful, crooked smile; apology clear in her abnormal colored eyes. I was just becoming mesmerized by them when her soft voice came again.

“I am so sorry, I hadn’t seen you coming. I should’ve been paying more attention. Do you want me to take you to a hospital or something?” I rolled my eyes at her hysterical tone. That was when I remembered that I had to leave this place before the Ninja’s tracked me, so I couldn’t afford to waste time at a hospital when I’ve been injured way more than this before. I shrugged at her indifferently though, not wanting to make her suspicious of my actions, before I spoke.

“I’m fine, but I would like to travel by car instead of walking. I’ve been walking non-stop for about 2 or 3 days now.” I cursed myself when I told her that, knowing that it would seem a little suspicious that I would be able to walk that long without looking half as tired as I should be. Her beautiful eyes widened at my words. She suddenly stood up, quite gracefully, and held out a hand towards me.

“Well, as a payment… I should allow you to travel with me because I don’t really have a specific place I’m going. So, since you don’t really want to go to the hospital, come on.” I looked at in befuddlement, not really believing that she would so willingly give a stranger a ride somewhere. I had just been joking when I had asked for a ride, because I didn’t really think she would agree with me. Slowly and cautiously, I held out my hand to grab hers. She then spoke up again when she had succeeded in pulling me up. “Oh, by the way… I’m Akari, and you are?” She asked politely, seeming to have a bit of a teasing tone as well. This seemed pretty cute, since she just noticed that she hadn’t introduced herself, making me smile in return before I responded.

“Well nice to meet you Akari,” I said, “my name is Ahnyx. Not to be rude or anything, but is that your real hair color?” I mentally cursed myself for saying that out loud when I had thought it. But she had beautiful blue hair that cascaded down her back in soft waves; it just seemed too abnormal to be her real hair color, although in a sense… it looked like it was. She chuckled a little at my question, before she looked at me in a studious way. An amused smile made its way onto my lips as she studied me intently. Her beautiful eyes suddenly connected with mine and I could tell she was holding back a blush from being caught looking. She rolled her eyes at my expression before she replied.

“Oh, well actually it’s real… but I could say the same for your hair as well.” Surprise flitted through me at her reply. No one ever really looked at my hair that closely before, just assuming that it was black instead of a dark shade of violet. I looked away from her, not wanting her to register my surprise at her question. I didn’t really get a chance to reply when I suddenly felt her hand leaving mine. I hadn’t even known we had been holding hand this entire time! Holding back a blush, I looked up at her to see a faint blush on her lush cheeks. She motioned for me to follow her to her car then. I did as she said and walked towards the passenger side.

I rushed to get in though, wanting to hurry up and leave this place. She looked at me, amused for a moment before starting the car and driving away. I watched as she drove; her face full of wonder and concentration. She seemed to be pondering something deeply. I was enthralled by her profile. I couldn’t believe that a girl as surreal as Akari was sitting here, driving a complete stranger to an unknown destination. As if hearing my last thought, she turned towards me for a split second, before turning back to concentrate on driving, and then she spoke.

“Where exactly are we going? Because you never really told me.” I smiled a little at the question, knowing that I had no idea. Looking at her a little guiltily, I replied back softly, allowing my voice to be just a murmur.

“Not exactly sure; I was just… following my gut I guess.”  She chuckled at my reply, and after a moment of silence, she responded to what I had said.

“Ha, so you too huh?” I looked at her, confused for a moment before she gave me a response as to what she was talking about. “I was just following my gut as well actually, I just couldn’t stay where I had been staying I guess.” When I looked to see her expression, her face was angled perfectly so that I couldn’t see. Confused at why she tried to hide her expression from me, it took me a moment to reply.

“Yeah, I guess so.” It was silent after that, leaving the both of us to our thoughts. For some reason, she intrigued me and had me wanting to know more about her, but I had absolutely no idea why I felt this way. I was always cold-hearted and never allowed anyone really in after the death of my mother. Cursing myself for even asking her for a ride, I pondered on whether I should tell her to just drop me off somewhere or to actually stay. I decided on the latter though, knowing that it would give me more distance from getting caught. Sighing, I decided to go ahead and drift into the grasps of slumber, knowing that this was going to be a long day.

Then everything went black, and I was pulled into the world of dreams.
