30th August.
"Straighten my dress." Shannon snaps at me as I go on my knees to straighten her wedding dress. The day was actually here. The wedding day. I thought it would never come.
Yet here I was, straightening her dress.
"Mom!" She shouts. Her mom immediately comes to her side. "How's it looking out there?"
She breathes heavily. Her mother fidgets."Do you want the truth? Or something else?" She asks her nervously. "The truth."
"Justin has, appeared to be MIA" she says quietly. "What?" Shannon screams. "What? What do you mean? What is that supposed to mean?" She screams. "Mom, you're fucking useless. What do you mean MIA? Find him!" She shouts. Her mother turns around and runs out. Shannon pushes me away.
"It's you isn't it? You've used some witchcraft powers of yours to make him turn away from me. I know you have." She shouts at me.
"Get out. I don't want you helping me." She says pointing towards the door. I get up and leave just as I am told and go outside.
I sit down on a bench and sigh. "Indika." I hear a voice say behind me. I turn around to see Justin standing there. "Indika, I don't want to do it." He says shaking his head.
"Justin! There you are. Everybody's been looking for you." I say. He shakes his head. "I don't want to do this Indika. I-I don't want to." He says slumping down next to me.
"Indika marriage is no joke. It's a lifetime commitment and I don't want to get myself into something like that. Especially with her. Indika I don't love her. I love you-"
"No you don't." I say cutting him off. "What?" He asks confused. "Don't pretend Justin, don't pretend. I know you don't love me. All the things you've done. Everything you've put me through. You'd never do that to someone you love." I sniff as I pull up my shirt.
"Look at them Justin. Look at the marks on my skin. Look at the stamp of hate you've left on me. You'd never do this to someone you love."
"Indika I-" "Justin, it's okay. I'm not angry at you anymore. I'm over it all. All I ask of you though, is to do it. Marry her. Justin, Shannon is a gorgeous girl who is crazy in love with you. Stop holding on to the past. Stop holding on to things that can't happen. Justin I'm in the past. Just move on." I say quietly. Justin sighs.
"But Indika I-" "Justin!" We hear behind us as Shannon comes charging towards us. "Justin! God you scared me! Of course you'd be with this bitch I-" she starts. I sigh.
"No Shannon. She was actually, she was actually well I was having-"
"I was just helping him with his speech." I smile and nod. If Shannon were to find out that Justin was having doubts about marrying her because he 'loved' me, god knows how she'd react and we couldn't afford for anymore plates to be smashed.
She looked at me up and down and squinted her eyes slightly. "Fine." She says. "Justin, I have a big problem though." She frowns.
"What? What is it?" Justin asks. "My wedding dress, it's ripped." She says choking up. I look at Justin who looks at me. We were both trying to contain ourselves from laughter. Shannon had always been overdramatic. So you're wedding dress is ripped, get over yourself and where a onesie instead.
"Oh no!" Justin acts. "What are we going to do!" I add giggling slightly as Justin does to. We both stop ourselves just in time. "I know right it's a disaster." She says on the verge of tears. "Well, ma'am. I don't know if you'd agree to this but, I can sew. I mean, Mimi and I can work to fix your dress." I smile weakly.
