Evan groaned and slid out of bed. If only it wasn't a dream. He grabbed his phone from it's charger and checked the time. 12:10. "Crap!" He muttered. He ran into the bathroom, took the quickest shower possible, and slipped into whatever clothes were in his closet. He ran down the stairs and glanced around to see if his mom was around. As usual, she was gone. Whatever. Hopping onto his bike, he pedaled as fast as he could to the orchard. There Jared was, scrolling through his phone with one hand, his other in the pocket of his skinny jeans. How did I not see how gay he was earlier? "Wow. You're, like, really late." Jared said as Evan parked his bike.

"I-I'm sorry. I overslept. By the time I woke up, it was past noon."

"This is what you get for waking me up at four in the morning!" He punched him in the shoulder as they walked through the trees. "I said I was sorry!"

Jared rolled his eyes. "Yeah, yeah. Whatever." They walked for a few minutes and made small talk, mostly teasing from Jared. "I can see why you chose this place." He said.

"To be our spot?"

"To be your and Connor's spot."

"Well, if wasn't really our-" Jared shushed him. "It's okay, I get it."

Evan shook his head. "If you don't like that I chose the same spot for us, I can change ours! It can be the park or the-"

Jared laughed. "Jesus, Evan. When will you learn to take a hint?" Evan eyes widened. Is this it? The moment where he asks me out? "W-what hint?" He asked, trying his hardest to act calm. "The hint of shutting up!" Jared grinned. The two sat down in a field of buttercups. Evan sighed, but he wasn't sure if it was a sigh of relief or disappointment. He bit his lip subconsciously. "Um, Fifty Shades Of Grey, much?" Jared snickered. "Ew, no!" Evan pushed him playfully. Jared feigned a gasp and fell to the ground dramatically. "Oh my, Evan! You...you...savage!"

Evan covered his face with his hands. "I hate you."

"You love me."

"Yeah." They sat in silence. Evan couldn't tell if it was comforting or just plain awkward. He settled on awkward. "So, um-" the two said in unison. They laughed sheepishly. "You go." Evan said, playing with the buttercups next to him. "No, it's okay, I was just trying to fill the silence." Jared replied. "Me too." They chucked quietly. "Whatcha makin' there?" Jared asked, moving Evan's arm for a better look. Embarrassed, Evan hid the project behind his back. "N-nothing!"

"Nothing, my ass! Let me see!" Evan tried to stand up and run, but Jared grabbed his wrist and pulled him to the ground. One thing led to another, and they ended up centimeters apart, their noses practically touching. Evan turned red and froze in place, giving Jared the opportunity to grab the project out of his hand. "A flower crown?" If it was possible, Evan turned redder. "That's adorable." He placed the crown on Evan's head.

Fingers still intwined, Evan couldn't take it anymore. He pulled Jared to him and pressed their lips together. Jared's eyes widened in surprise, but he didn't pull away.

Suddenly, Evan realized what he had done. He stood up and ran as fast as he could out of the orchard, leaving Jared confused as hell.
