Evan sat in the passenger's seat, controlling the aux cord. The two sang along to broadway musicals the entire time. Evan kept reaching for Jared's hand and giggling. "Babe, I'm gonna crash the car because of you. Are you affection deficient or something?" Jared asked, humming along to In The Heights. Evan nodded. "If I go fifteen minutes without cuddling, I shut down." He joked. Jared rolled his eyes and took his boyfriend's hand. "If we die," He said, glancing at Evan, "I'm gonna rob your ghost house."

Jared pulled into the parking lot and got out of the car, opening Evan's door for him. "Your majesty." He bowed and reached out his hand. Evan took it and stepped out of the car gracefully. "Thank you, sire." Evan then tripped over his own feet, landing in Jared's arms. "A damsel in distress." Jared mumbled, helping Evan up and kissing his nose. The two walked through the graveyard, holding hands and watching the leaves blow through the graveyard. Kind of an odd place for a romantic moment. Evan thought to himself. He  didn't want to break the silence. He glanced at Jared. He looked so peaceful and...content. Evan smiled to himself. He had the perfect boyfriend.

Finally, they came across Connor's gravestone. It was in the back of the cemetery, next to the pond and underneath a tree. The gravestone read 'Connor Murphy, beloved son and brother'. Evan looked up at Jared. "C-could you, uh, give me a moment?" He asked. Jared nodding, squeezing Evan's hand and giving him a kiss on the forehead before turning to sit on a faraway bench.

Evan clutched the flowers and took a deep breath. "Um...hey. I'm, uh, the guy who made that foundation about you..." He thought for a moment. "I'm sorry. God, I'm so sorry. I know this isn't what you would have wanted, and I thought I could help but I-I messed everything up and now..." He closed his eyes. "I thought I could help." He repeated, eyes filling up with tears. "I thought...that I could make sure you were never forgotten. But, that's what you wanted, right? To be forgotten? And I just...I messed it all up. If you were...if you were still here, you'd probably hate me, wouldn't you? You had one wish, and I did the exact opposite." He kept talking. He couldn't stop, because if he did, he would start crying. But eventually, he ran out of breath. Evan dropped to his knees sobbing. The flowers fell out of his hands as he covered his face. "I'm so sorry..." He mumbled over and over.

Jared looked up from his phone just in time. "Shit, Evan." He whispered, running over to him. He sat down next to the crying boy and wrapped his arm around him. "It's my fault." He sobbed. "It's not. You can't control who lives and who dies, Evan. It's not your fault." Evan just shook his head. He wanted to stop crying, but he couldn't.

He just couldn't.
