*Cole's POV*
I had arrived at noon at Ryan's house like I had promised and to be quite honest, he didn't seem to be all that thrilled about it. But then again how could I know? He doesn't show his emotions often and when he does, you have to be paying very close attention to it, or else you'll miss it.
As soon as we got into my car I began driving to my house. I wasn't at all nervous about spending time with Ryan, I was more so nervous about how he will handle being with me alone.
I definitely don't want him feeling uncomfortable, that's for sure. My goal is too make him as comfortable as possible and for him to enjoy himself. He always looks so tense, as if someone is going to jump him at any given moment.
I slowly look at Ryan in the corner of my eye. He's got his legs propped up to where they are against his chest and his hands hidden deep inside his front hoodie pocket. I bring my head back up to the road before and idea comes to my mind. "How about we play a game on the way to my house," I suggested. "I'll ask you questions and you nod your head yes, or shake your head no, fair enough?"
Ryan hesitates but slowly nods his head. "Okay, first question. Do you like pizza?" I was only asking this question because I was unaware if he did or not and I planned on ordering some for lunch. Ryan nodded his head quite quickly as if he eats pizza all the time.
Though it doesn't look like this boy eats hardly anything.
"That's good because I plan on ordering some for lunch. Alright second question. Do I look nice today?" I asked with a hint of a smile but Ryan takes it more seriously than what I had intended. He shakes his head yes with a petrified look on his face, as if I'll beat him up if he says no.
"Don't look at me like that," I spoke softly. "I'm not going to beat you up, I want your honest opinion. How do I look?" Ryan looks away and nods his yes. "I'm a little offended that you thought I would beat you up." I said, but I wasn't serious. I just wanted to hear him apologize.
Ryan looks out the window, most likely ashamed he had thought that way about me. I keep my gaze on the road when I suddenly feel a cold sensation that sends shivers down my spine. But to my surprise, it wasn't the temperature in my car that caused it.
I looked at my right hand on the steering wheel to see that Ryan had rested his hand there for only a split second before pulling away and returning it back to his hoodie pocket. I was shocked. He touched my hand as an apology. More than likely, that was challenging for him to do.
"Don't worry, I forgive you it's okay." I said reassuringly. I've gotten him to touch my hand, now that's the first step in getting him comfortable around me.
Around ten minutes later we finally arrived at my house. We've got the house to ourselves which is good, it'll give Ryan an easier time adjusting. "Make yourself at home." I told Ryan before shutting the front door behind me and hanging my jacket up.
To my surprise, he doesn't head to the couch. Instead, he stares at all the art work hanging on the walls that looked almost ancient. Compared to his house, mine is quite the mansion to him. "Do you like them?" I asked, walking towards him. Ryan nods his head yes, looking at me for a short second. "I painted them."
Ryan then looks up at me with wide eyes. Almost like he didn't believe me. "What? Just because I play football doesn't mean I can't paint?" I chuckled. Surprisingly, Ryan shows a faint smile, but only for a millisecond. "So what kind of movies do you like to watch?" I asked Ryan before sitting down on our black leather sofa.
Ryan shrugs his shoulders, looking tense. "You can sit down Ryan, don't worry the couch won't bite." I joked. Ryan then sits down on the other side of the couch, leaving an empty space in between us. I turn on the television and get everything set up while Ryan just sits there staring at his hands as if they are the most interesting thing in the world.
"Which do you prefer, comedy, romance, horror, drama, or family?" I asked. Ryan looks up a little scared. I can't help but feel sad that he won't speak to me, but I just have to be patient with him.
"How does comedy sound?" I ask, hoping to hear his laugh during the film. Ryan nods his head yes. That boy will agree to anything if it means he doesn't have to speak.
"Alright, comedy it is!" I smiled.
Nearly an hour into the movie I see Ryan from the corner of my eye begin to doze off slowly. He must get tired during movies. I quietly chuckle making it look as if I'm laughing at the movie. "Ryan?" I ask, looking over at him. He's completely out. His head is tilted to the side and his small hands are buried deep into his front hoodie pocket.
His closed eyelids fluttered in his sleep, causing him to look even more adorable. It was a true sight to see.
I've never wanted to cuddle someone so badly in my entire life. If I'm lucky, maybe there's a chance that Ryan talks in his sleep so then I can hear his voice. Slowly, I scoot closer to him on the sofa where now there is no empty space between us.
His head is tilted sideways, facing me and I just couldn't resist to touch his cheek. Ever so slowly, I rest my hand on his cheek, caressing the soft skin with my thumb. Was this to far? If he were awake he wouldn't even allow me to be this close.
Suddenly, Ryan began to stir in is sleep. Quickly, I scooted back to my original spot on the sofa before glancing at the television, as if I hadn't noticed that he had fallen asleep. But, as soon as I glanced back at the movie, the credits had started moving up on the screen.
"Did you enjoy the movie?" I asked, knowing he had fallen asleep for the ending. Ryan nodded his head in response. So much for hearing his laugh during the movie. "Would you like me to take you home or do you want to do something else with me?"
Ryan shrugged his shoulders looking at me for a short moment before averting his gaze elsewhere. "How about I order us some pizza?" I suggested but surprisingly, Ryan shook his head no before standing up. "Are you wanting to go home?"
Ryan pointed to the notebook and pen that was lying on the coffee table in between the television and the sofa, where we had just watched a movie together. He wanted to talk! I grabbed the notebook and pen and looked down at Ryan. "You don't have to talk if you don't want to."
Ryan hesitated, but soon he grabbed the notebook and pen from my grasp. "How about we go to the park again?" I suggested.
I could have sworn I saw a small smile appear on his face.
