Hearing Ryan say those two words to me had me unbelievably shocked. But what was he thanking me for? Was he thanking me for stopping Nick from hurting him? Or was Ryan thanking me for helping him with his anxiety and fears of himself?

Ryan had a small smile planted upon his face and I almost had to do a double take of his angelic features. Ryan's voice had sounded hoarse and almost raspy as if it caused him great difficulty to speak. I simply smiled down at him as he slowly started to drift off into a deep sleep, keeping his hand on my cheek.

Before he fell asleep, I bent my head down to whisper into his ear softly. "You don't need to thank me Ryan. Not ever." Until I was absolutely sure he had fallen asleep, I planted a gentle kiss on his temple.

This boy had me at a loss for words.

People always managed to point out his flaws without actually getting to know him. But you can't judge a book simply by it's cover. It's the story inside that matters. It simply doesn't matter if the outside looks broken and used. It doesn't define the book as a whole. Just like Ryan's flaws don't define him as a person.

But people don't seem to realize who Ryan actually is and it makes my heart ache. To me, Ryan has the most beautiful personality. So what if he's shy? It just makes him even more adorable.

Every story has a reason as to why it is a certain way.

Two hours had passed and Ryan was still asleep. I decided to make my way towards the dining room in hopes of finding his mother. Sure enough she was there, reading the local newspaper that arrived every day. "Um, hello." I said politely.

By the looks of it, Ryan looked a lot like his mother. They had the same eyes and face structure. Also, I could tell that Ryan had gotten his height from his mother. She immediately stood up and engulfed me into a tight embrace.

"Thank you so much for saving my son today from that bully." I've done more than save him from a bully ma'am, I thought to myself. But, I decided to keep my mouth shut on that comment. "You both go to the same school, right? How often does my son get bullied?" She asked me sweetly. "A lot." I simply said, causing her to lightly sigh. "If only he would have told me. I just wish he would speak to me."

Pity immediately ran through my body. Her son hasn't spoken a word to her for a long time, but he spoke to me. I couldn't help but feel so sorry for her. "I know ma'am I'm really sorry." I said, causing Ryan's mom to chuckle. "Please, call me Diana."

At least I'm getting on her good side.

"Right sorry." I chuckled nervously. "No need to apologize sweetie, you were just being polite. Here, why don't you sit down and I'll make you some tea!" She said sweetly. So, being the polite gentleman I am, I sat down. "Does Ryan like tea?" I asked, desperately trying to start a conversation.

Maybe she can tell me what happened to Ryan that caused him to be so traumatized. "Yes he loves it. When he was a toddler he refused to drink anything that wasn't tea." This caused me to chuckle. "Well that's good to know."

"How close are you and Ryan?" Diana asked me. "I'd like to think that we are pretty close. We watched a movie at my house today before we went to the park so I believe so." I just hope Ryan feels the same. Diana then set my tea down in front of me before sitting down from across the table.
