*Cole's POV*

I held my breath as I tried to search for an emotion on Ryan's face. But, I saw nothing. He just stared at me and then looked down back at my notebook. What's he thinking? Ryan started to write something down and I felt my heart rate speed up. Once he finished writing he showed me the paper, and I almost laughed.

"So am I."

So he does have some sense of humor. "Alright, so tell me something about you that nobody knows." I still wasn't to sure if he was comfortable with answering questions, especially about himself, so I had to be patient. Suddenly, Ryan began to write something down.

"I'm not unable to speak, I just choose not to."

"Why is that?" I dared to ask. Ryan immediately looked down at my notebook, pretending he didn't hear my question. "Alright, do you want to ask me something now?" Ryan didn't reply back, he just started to play with his fingers. Have I made him upset some how?

"I didn't mean to upset you Ryan." I said. Ryan stood up slowly and handed me my notebook back. He was done talking for the day. I put my notebook back into my bag and followed Ryan to the sidewalk. "Ryan," I started. "I don't think any different of you for not speaking."

After about five minutes of walking in silence Ryan made a quick turn, heading up a driveway to a house.

Most likely his house.

I didn't mean to upset him. "Ryan wait!" I called out after him. Slowly, he turned around, staring at me emotionless. But somehow I actually felt that he was upset.

He just doesn't show it.

"You may think that I don't actually care but if you are thinking that then you are one hundred percent wrong. I care. Me being popular and being the quarterback does not define me as a person and I'm sick and tired of people stereotyping me."

Ryan looked broken in all honesty. I knew he wanted to say something, but something was stopping him from speaking the words he so desperately wanted to say. I just had to figure out what that something was.

*Ryan's POV*

I wanted to speak to Cole like a normal person. I really did.

But I just couldn't do it.

I don't ever remember being so disappointment with myself. Then again, Cole said himself that he didn't think any differently of me for not speaking. So why do I feel so ashamed? Cole was kind enough to walk me home, I don't understand why he even bothered in the first place but I'm not one to question. Especially when it comes to generosity.

"So, this is your house?" He asked surprisingly. It wasn't much, so I don't know what the big deal is. I nodded and looked at my house. It was an average sized house. Not to big and not to small. Only three bedrooms, one bathroom and an attic, that I personally spend most my free time at.
