Swimming

Thomas had found a lake. It wasn't too small and the water was clear, perfect for swimming on hot days. Like now.

Prince and Morality had already gotten everything ready when Vigil lazily greeted them that morning. Logic was just reading a book, like he did every morning. They all clambered into Thomas's car (which he said was pointless because they could just wait it out in the mindscape) and made their way to the nice little lake. It seemed like it was going to be a good day. Even Anx wasn't trying to be the defeatist that he usually was. It probably helped that he was asleep.

When they got there, they got changed and cannonballed into the water. Patton and Roman were having a water fight with the water guns that they had snuck into the car and Virgil was just chilling at the shallowest end, watching it all happen with Thomas, occasionally shouting things to Morality to help him hit Prince in the face or surprise him.

Logan sat on the grass that was around the lake, a distance from the edge, reading and, every once in a while, looking up to see the chaos below. "Hey! Logan! Come on!" Morality beckoned Logic over to the water, an action that the other denied with a shake of his head. He was comfortable where he was. But when the others started calling his name, he slowly stood up and gazed over the edge, a worried expression on his face. "What's the matter, Logan?" Thomas asked, being able to sense the others discomfort.

He sighed. "I...um...Can't swim."

Thomas looked at him quizzically. "Well, we can all swim so how does that- "

He was cut off by Prince. "You know, it's like the fact that I can speak Spanish but you can't."

Logan was just staring at his reflection in the rippling water. However, he came to meet it head first as someone pushed him into the water, glasses and all. He let out a (slightly embarrassingly girly) scream as he hit the water, causing the others to look his way and slightly panic. Surprisingly, Virgil was the first to take action. Swimming over to the spot that Logan had disappeared down and diving. Streams of bubbles notified where Logan was. Then the bubbles stopped.

Anx reappeared a few seconds later, his arm wrapped around an unconscious Logic and his other moving frantically, trying to keep both of them afloat. Prince and Thomas helped to lift him onto the grassy bank, morality just watching in horror. He didn't mean to push Logan in, he just wanted to surprise him, make him jump. They all crowded around the trait and Prince noticed a small cut on his forehead. "He must have hit something."

Thomas, however, didn't answer. He was just sitting on the grass, his head in his hands. He had suddenly gotten the worst headache he ever had. Morality suddenly pushed past the others, quickly trying to remember the steps and rules of CPR. He pinched Logan's nose after a few compressions and tried to breath some life into his friend. It was minutes later that they saw some results.

Logan sat up suddenly, breathing heavily and coughing up water but he was alive. He swallowed thickly. There was a strange taste in this mouth, like chocolate or biscuit. He looked up at Patton.

A while later, they all clambered into the car again, towels wrapped around them. Logan was wearing Morality's spare glasses as his were somewhere at the bottom of the lake.

As they drove back home, Patton looked down to find Logic asleep on his shoulder. First, he checked that his breathing was fine. Then, he smiled and enjoyed the moment. Maybe there was a spark but neither would admit it.
