Virgil was happy. Genuinely happy. But he couldn't tell anyone. He really wanted to tell Thomas, Logan and Patton that he and Roman had been in a relationship for three months and that he was the happiest that he had ever been... but he couldn't. It had been a mutual decision not to but he was regretting the choice. He wanted to tell them. He wanted to shout it from the rooftops. He wanted to write it in the sky but... he didn't know if Roman would be happy about it or if he would hate him and want to break up with him.
He buried his head further into his knees, trying to block out all of the negative thoughts. He didn't even notice when the door to his room opened and Roman strolled in. He didn't notice the Prince's expression turned from excited to concerned. He didn't notice when the bed dipped as Roman joined him. However, as a strong pair of arms engulfed him, he lifted his head, his watery meeting concerned ones. "Hey, what's up?" The soft voice was comforting and Virgil took a deep breath. "Nothing. I'm... I guess I'm just tired." It wasn't even much of a lie. He was very tired.
"Oh. Well, if you like, you can have a nap in my room. The bed's really soft and you'll have good dreams..." Virgil was slightly surprised by the offer and nodded slightly. Princey rarely let him into his room, and definitely not in his bed. "And I was thinking... If it's okay with you, obviously... that we... or I could... tell Patton and Logan... about us?" He gave a slightly nervous grin as Virgil thought. He nodded and smiled, earning a huge grin from Roman.
"I'm going to your room to take a nap. You go tell them?"
"...Sure."
Virgil stopped in the doorway, suddenly remembering something. "Hey, Ro? Could I borrow a shirt? I spilt coffee on this one." Roman nodded back at him, earning a small smile and a yawn as Virgil sleepily escaped from his corner of the mindscape.
Ro stood up, sighing heavily and repeating what he was going to say in his head. His thoughts were swamped with images of Logan shaking his head, face unmoving and Patton looking at them with disappointment. The image almost brought him to tears but he was suddenly jerked back to reality by a soft noise coming from outside. Why was he so nervous? It wasn't like him to be nervous... Then he remembered that he was still in Virgil's room. "Damn room..."
He clicked his fingers, appearing outside, and shut the door, looking over to his own room, the door of which was cracked open. Roman smiled as he peered inside. Virgil was curled up in the thick silk sheets, peaceful, with his hoodie in a pile at the bottom of the bed. The soft snores that came from the unusually calm side were reassuring. Ro took a deep breath and sighed. "To the kitchen... I guess..."
He made his way down to the kitchen, still nervous. At his arrival, Patton turned, spilling a bit of something from the mixing bowl in his hands, which landed on the floor in a splodge. Logan sighed, which Pat ignored. "What's up, kiddo?"
"Uh... Can you two sit down for a moment? I need to speak with you..." They looked at each other in confusion. It wasn't very often that Roman was serious about something. They sat on the nearby sofa, setting down their various items (pen, papers, mixing bowl) on the table.
Roman took in a deep breath. "I...we...you see...um..."
Lo and Pat looked at eachother again, slightly concerned. Roman mentally kicked himself. Why was this so hard?
"I... um... well, I..." However, as Roman was fumbling, Virgil strolled through the door tiredly, rubbing his eyes. He was dressed in Roman's over-sized (I'm Royalty Dammit) t-shirt and his black boxers, with Ro's golden crown lying lopsided on his head. "Hey, you told 'em yet babe?" He yawned.
Everything was silent.
Until Patton.
"OHMYGOSHYOUTWOARETOGETHERTHATSSOCUTE!!! DOES THOMAS KNOW?" Roman shook his head, amazed at how well he was taking the news.
"Congratulations, you two. Though I never would have put both of you together due to the drastic differences in your personalities, opposites attract, as they say." Logan smiled warmly and attempted to calm down Patton. Virgil whispered into Roman's ear as he walked past. "I knew you'd screw it up." He winked before taking the crown off his head and twirling it around his finger.
"We need to go tell Thomas." Princey glanced over at his emo to make sure it was okay with him. Virgil turned away from Roman, nodding slightly. "Fine. Just gimme a sec." He clicked his fingers and his current outfit turned into his regular clothing, plus a rainbow heart-shaped badge on his jacket. With a nervous sigh and a quick kiss from Ro, he nodded, and all four sank down to meet with their host.
