The sun has just begun shining as I peek my head from under the covers and soon expose the rest of my body to the dimly lit room.

I hear a slight knock at my door before it opens, revealing my mother, who was standing in the doorway.

I try my best not to close my eyes or else I'll be in a deep slumber once more. Instead, I look over to the digital alarm clock beside me to keep me awake.

"First day, honey." Mom rubs my arm from above the covers. I let out a slight groan and roll to my side before shuffling under the sheets.

"Already?" I sigh. "I though it wasn't for another week!"

"I thought you were excited about it?"

"I am, just.." I trail off, not knowing how to continue.

I hear her let out a content sigh as she stands up and walks off downstairs, soon enough followed by the sound of a sizzling pan.

-------

I check my reflection in the mirror. My slim figure and tall body has many disadvantages to it, but I don't really mind.

Liking the way I look, I grab my bag and head off to the first floor. Mom is already sitting there, waiting for my arrival.

"Ready?" She looks up from her notepad. I nod and just before we head out the door, I catch a glimpse of a snippet of her new book.

-------

"I've never liked being on buses, if I'm honest." I tell the girl beside me - Kayleigh. She nods in agreement.

"Me neither, but I promise you'll like this one. It's really different from the other routes - only the best people come onto this bus. The funny ones, mostly. Or the nice ones."

"What about the other routes?"

"Well, I'll just say they aren't the best. I've been on my b-" She stops her sentence. "My friend's route before and it's just full of jerks. All the popular kids. And nerds. And...others."
I can see the last part sent shivers down her spine so I decide against asking more questions and carry on looking outside the window.

-------

"So, I'll just get you the office and they can tell you which tutor class you're in." Kay sounds so chirpy and bubbly, which is beginning to get onto my nerves but I ignore it.

She leads the way as I follow, noticing all the chipping paint and old wooden plans around the walls of the floor and the room. The teachers have done their job by hanging around posters and paintings done by their students to add at least a bit of color to the place, but it barely seems to work as the dispiriting aura still hovers in the atmosphere.

In the office, I look around and notice people walking around. Kay walks over to the front desk as I wait slightly behind her, not wanting much attention on me. It's better to keep on the down low the first couple of weeks, which is exactly what my plan is.

"Right, so," Kay approaches me with a never-fading smile. "Floor two, room 201. Got it?"

I nod in response as we make our way to where we need to be.

-------

"So that's the guy you were talking about earlier!" I nod my head towards a mildly short guy with dark skin and jet black hair.

"Yep, that's Vik." Kay's face begins to gleam as she looks over.

"Alright, enough with the heart eyes."

"Wha-heart eyes?! What do you mean?" she stutters in defence.

I laugh and shake my head. "It's bare obvious, you know."

"Oh, shut up."

The room suddenly goes silent and the murmurs and laughs stop as the door to our room opens and in strut three guys.

A tall blonde boy was leading the other two, who followed behind like dogs. He had a lanky figure but annoyingly attractive features that just can't make you sit still.

He looks around the room before turning to his clique and smirking.

Just as the teacher is about to speak, he interrupts. "Yeah, yeah, I know we're late, blah, blah, blah, whatever."

The two guys snort behind him. One had a bright, clearly fake gold chain around his neck and a red snapback. He snickers at his friend beside him, who was short. He had light colored hair and bright blue eyes. His laugh echoes around the room. Memorable one, that is.

"And that, that is Simon."
