"I really don't see the reason to get upset because of it," Josh shrugs his shoulders.

"Yeah, well, a whole week has passed after the cafeteria incident and people don't seem to get the fact that it's old," I reply back to him.

"People are just cunts."

"Agreed."

Tobi wasn't present at period three English, meaning I was on my own, working with Josh. He seemed why around me at first but after cracking several jokes (which weren't even that good, I must say), we found something that we both had a connection to.

He seems nice enough and quite a gentle giant, if you may, so I don't really see how him and Freya got together.

"Well, it's kind of a long story," he told me when I first asked him about it.

"I have time," I smile and lean my chin onto my hand, my look giving it away that I am invested in the conversation.

"Where do I start.." he mumbles to himself as he looks down, playing with his fingers. He tries to remember the former events and once he does, an obviously unwanted blush creeps up onto his face. "It's cliché, but bare with me."

"Just tell me."

"Bumped into each other in the hallway, I saw a new FIFA game in her hands, I made a comment about it, and then I walked her to class."

I awe and ask how long ago that was.

"Around 5 years prior." A heartwarming smile spreads across his lips.

"Not going to lie, I secretly hate you now."

"Wha-Why?" He laughs.

"Too cute. Now shut up, we have work to do."

We finally arrive at the benches as I already see Vik and Kay holding onto each other and looking off into the distance.

I'm surrounded my cute couples which just lower my expectations. When will life give me a break?

I sit down besides Kay as she straightens out and looks at me.

"Look," she whispers.

I watch the quad. Per usual, all the popular kids are in one place and the outcasts in another. I see Simon, Ethan, and the others, but one face seems to be missing.

JJ.

I scan the whole courtyard in hopes of finding him when the sun just so happens to reflect from his gold chain into my eye.

I see the one and only, casually leaning onto a wall with his back pressed along the cold, red brick.

He seems to be focused on his phone, and only his phone, but once a skinny, blonde haired girl leans onto the spot next to him, he instantly rips his eyes off the screen, gluing them onto her.

"That's Seana, a girl he broke up with so long ago and lies to his mates about hating her, yet we all know that the truth would come out soon and now most people know that he may or may not be close friends with her once again..or maybe even more." Kay whispers into my ear. "Well, everyone but his friends. Ironic."

I snicker and shake my head at the situation. Christ..

The bell soon rings as people begin to flood into the building for their next lesson.

"What you got now?" Josh asks me as we walk over to the doors.

"Um, geography. You?"

"Drama."

Sometimes, school gets tiring.

Sometimes, life gets tiring, too.

Memories flood my mind of what my brother used to say to me when he was still around.

Trees swish in the wind and the sun flares blind me as I walk around the small, broken town my mother and I decided to settle in.

I never liked being outside that much, but today was surely irresistible as pretty much one of the only things this town is fond of is it's sunsets.

After walking for what seemed like ages I spot an opening between the trees and road. The red of the sun looks like fire if you stand far enough.

I walk towards it, through the road, through the trees, and finally, I reached an end to what I thought was a never-ending road.

I cliff stood before me and the sun was clear in my view. I make my way closer and closer and look over the edge, a rush of adrenaline swimming through my veins and the void calling me towards it.

The bottom was full of sharp rocks and broken twigs, and although I didn't want to, something about that floor intrigued me to jump off.

Instead of doing so, I ponder over whether to head home or stay watching the sun, but the view is too good to miss, so I sit down, dropping my rucksack beside me and crossing my legs.

The sun fascinates me, making me go into deep thought about the past life at school and what to do. I think about Kay, Vik, Tobi, JJ and Seana, Josh and Freya, all the other girls, but most importantly, I think about Simon.

I feel a presence next to mine.

Whoever it is doesn't try and hide it that they're there. From the corner of my eyes, I spot a man dressed in all black and holding a beer in his hands, which he soon puts down right next to him.

Besides his clothing, I spot a familiar mop of golden hair, which hands low on his forehead, clearly the person not bothering to look after it, and a face I can instantly recognise from a mile away, except this time, it looks more sad and beaten down than usual.

I don't act upon it, though. As much as I want to tell him that I know he's here, I decide against it as we proceed to watch the sun set together.
