• Chapter Thirteen •

A/N: Sorry I haven't been updating as much, school ended and I had family stuff. Hope you understand! :)

After driving back home, I decide to stay to stay over at his, yet go back home in the middle of the night to not frantically try and gather my things in the morning and hope I have all my books in my locker.

Arriving at school, I spot a great amount of posters hanging loosely on the walls, indicating information for different school events that will be taking place.

"Cara!" I hear my name being shouted. I turn to see Tobi quickly approaching me and swinging his arm around my shoulders, making his way to the lockers alongside me.

Since there are only several weeks left until the end of term, not many people have showed up to class, or even tutor time.

Tobi and I are joined by Ethan and Kay in the science classroom, but make sure that the two sit as far away from each other as they can.

"Right then, how was your weekend?" I decide to make small talk between the group.

Ethan groans and rolls his eyes.

"Bad day?" I ask with a laugh to help him feel at ease.

"Day is an understatement." He calls back, earning a laugh from Tobi, a small chuckle from Kay, and a sympathetic smile from myself.

"Same." I agree.

"Oi! We actually had a great time!" Kay acts offended but a smile still manages to break through. I laugh and nod, "True."

As the others carry on talking, from the corner of my eye I spot a well-known blond mop of hair. I slightly turn around and see Simon, but something about him seems different. The smile, the way he's sitting, the glint in the eye that isn't there anymore. Although he proceeds to laugh and make small talk, he isn't the same.

Suddenly, a girl enters the classroom.

"Sorry miss I'm late, doctor's appointment." She shoots the teacher a fake smile, trying to befriend Miss.

"Oh, no worries, Kirsty, traffic's insane!" She gives her a loving look, clearly a favorite student.

I sit back and watch, turning my full attention onto whoever she is.

The girl now known as 'Kirsty' scans the classroom and finally finds an empty seat, which just happens to be next to the boy that's been taking up my mind recently.

She places her things next to Simon and sits down, everyone welcoming her. Simon then completely shifts himself in his seat and is now looking at her. His warm gaze is followed by him scooting closer in his seat and wrapping an arm around her lovingly, her kissing his cheek in the process.

My blood runs cold.

"Cara? Answer to number seven please?" Miss' voice interrupts me from my actions, as everyone now looks at me.

"Huh? Number seven, uh.." I flick through my book as I hear snickers quietly erupt from the classroom. "Number seven. This process is called respiration. Respiration is a process in living organisms involving the production of energy, typically with the intake of oxygen and the release of carbon dioxide from the oxidation of complex organic substances."

"Very well done, positive comment for you." She smiles. I turn around in my seat, trying to hide my already blushing face. I looks up and see Tobi on the opposite side of my, silently applauding my answer. Kay, that sits beside him,  gives me a nod of approval.

"I'm in Year 13 and still don't know what respiration is." Ethan chuckles from beside me.

I laugh. "Why the fuck are you taking biology then?"

"No idea, real-"

"Ethan! Cara! Silence,  or else I'll send both of you out!" We hear miss shouting at us from the front.

People 'oo' from around the around the room, which all go unnoticed by our teacher.

"I have a girlfriend!" Ethan whisper-shouts at the people surrounding us. It seems that every statement is followed by a laugh or chuckle. This kid is too positive for his own good.

I avert my gaze onto the lovebirds I was staring at before in hopes that Simon has taken his arm off her or done something to get away, but those hopes are crushed when he sneaks a small peck onto her lips as they continue talking to the people at their table.

Vik joins Tobi, Kay, and I as we walk around at break together. The quad and patio itself seems emptier than usual, which sets an uncomfortable feeling of unwanted absence.

"Hiya!" The boy approaches us and Kay gives him a side hug. "Hey babe," he says underneath his breath for only her to hear.

I sigh at their action, being all adorable together and in love. It was difficult to admit it, but it's way more difficult to no fall for school douchebag.

"Hey! Have you heard about Simon and Kirsty?" This statement instantly brought my attention.
The boy from several days ago approaches us. We stop in our tracks as he speaks to Tobi.

"Sup Cal." Tobi makes finger guns at 'Cal' as Vik does nothing but nod.

"Oh, you're Cara." He smiles at me.

"Yeah, how'd you know?" I decide to be polite and start a conversation before actually getting to the important bit - Simon.

"Oh, Simon talks loads about you. Anyway, have you heard what's up with that Kirsty chick? I don't know for sure but I overheard some people talking and apparently, they've been 'unofficial' for about a week, maybe a tad bit more." Cal can't stand still as he speaks. It's as if he's more excited about their relationship than they are themselves.

"'Unofficial'?" Kay makes air quotes as she asks.

"Apparently so." He smiles before someone interrupts us by the devil himself approaching us.

"Callum!" He smiles and swings his arm around Cal. The boy gives him a joking flirtatious look.

"Sallum for life!" Tobi cheers and laughs.

"More like Kirsty and Simon.." Cal makes the remark under his breath. Simon shoots him a glare and playfully hits him on the chest.

"Heard you got yourself a girlfriend," Tobi sings.

"Well, you can say that.." The blond smiles. "No other girl can really compete," His eyes gaze along all of us but abruptly stop and look at me for a second.

"Not even one."
