Two weeks have passed and Simon and Cara have been growing farther and farther apart. Both wish they could do something, but each has their reason not to. The longer they stayed apart, the more they realized that this change was inevitable and that they each has another person to focus on. Simon had Kirsty and Cara had Harry, well, more like Harry had her.
Since the last two have been hanging out non-stop after their meet at the big oak trees in the school garden, rumors were inescapable.
"Have you heard? Harry and Cara are together!"
"Why has Harry been clinging onto the new girl so much? Do they have something between them?"
"Who's that Harry kid and why is he hanging out with Cara? My Cara?"
The last one came from someone Cara didn't expect to care so much about the whole situation.
"Are you serious?" Was her first reaction when Tobi told her what Simon said at break that day. "He can't be. No way."
"But he is, Cara! And that's why you gotts do something about it."
"'Bout what? Simon or the rumors?" She snorts.
"Both! Can't you see he's struggling?"
Cara raises her eyebrows at her friend but quickly reminds herself that he knows nothing, and that's how it will stay.
"Are you out of your mind?" She whisper shouts as the two enter their History classroom.
"Besides! How did this rumor even start - that we're 'together'?" She questions the know-it-all.
"From what I've heard, it started when Harry posted that drawing of you on his account, for some reason."
"I told him to. I created an accuunt for his art and told him to post all his art on there, which, thankfully, he accepted." Cara holds her head up in pride.
"The only person you gotta blame here is yourself, mate. Sorry." Tobi shrugs in response.
"Whatever," huffs Cara and rolls her eyes and leans her chin onto her palm, finally deciding to pay attention to what Sir was saying.
-------
"Sooooo..are we going out tonight, or..?" Harry sets down his tray and takes the empty seat beside Cara, his already opened milk carton nearly spilling. Before it can, the girl takes ur off the tray and waits for him to sit down, then puts it back.
"No idea, but I'm free." Cara tales a hire of her apple and then gives a questionable look to the others surrounding her.
"No can do, sorry." Tobi answers.
"Vik and I have got plans.." Kay friend but received a smirk from the girl sitting across from her.
"You do you..." Cara leans in. "But you're not the only who will be, wahey!" She reaches her arm out for a fist bump from her friend, but Kay declines. All she can do is hold her serious expression from not laughing but breaks when Vik mumbles, "you're right about that.." which received an eruption of laughter from the table.
Meanwhile, Simon is picking at his food and occasionally, his jealousy overtakes him as he stares at Cara, hitting it off with Harry from across the lunch room.
That's supposed to be me she's with, but I can't. There's obviously a reason as to why I'm with Kirsty, but Cara wouldn't understand. Its just that the guys-
Simon's train of thought get interrupted when, out of the corner of his eye, Chip grabbing a hold of Kirsty's hand. Clearly he likes the girl and her presence, but something about Cara just attracts him.
"Oi, Chip! Would you mind stopping flirting with my girlfriend?" Simon barks at his newly made friend.
For the past two weeks, kirsty has been forcing her love interest into making friends with her own, which turned out to be all guys.
"Calm down, Minter. It's just a bit of banter, that's all!" He shrugs it off like it's no big deal.
"I'm not sure that's the right term to use. Either way, you better watch it Larkin, 'cause you damn know that I wouldn't think twice about making another dent in your head, yeah?" Simon warns Josh and narrows his eyes, before returning to his half-eaten lunch.
"Anyway, as I was saying..you guys free tonight?" Chip continues.
"Sure! Where should we-" Kirsty begins to reply but Simon quickly cuts her off.
"She's not."
"Simon-" whispers Kirsty but all he does is stand up, and walk off dumping the rubbish from the plastic tray into the bin.
"Someone's grumpy." Harry points out to Cara as they both turn their attentions onto a very aggressive-looking Simon.
"Guess today's just not his day," Cara shrugs.
"Or ever." Vik chimes in and earns a laugh from his friends.
"Let's go, I'm gettk g tired of the loudness." Tobo suggests as they all agree and stand up to dump their trays.
-------
"Its chillier than usual tonight.." Cara points out as Harry begins to take off his coat, which Cara declines. He shrugs ans throws it over his shoulder once more.
"Wait, do you still like Katie?" She asks, out of the blue.
"Sorta, yeah, but there's another."
Cara stops in her tracks. "What! How have you not told me?!"
"Its just that-"
"Harry! We're supposed to be the Primark version of Zoe and Mark! How dare you!"
"Okay, okay, fine. Just listen and-and don't scream, alright?" Harry begs.
"Okay, okay." Cara squeals in excitement.
"I like, um, it's just that-"
"Just tell me, dumbo."
"Chris Dixon."
-------
"I still can't fucking believe you." Cara furrows her eyebrows, jockingly.
"What can I say? Its difficult to be a closeted bi."
"True, true." She responds. "Wait. Is that-is that Kirsty?!" She whisper-shouts at her friend.
"Yep. Kirsty Austin and Josh "Chip" Larkin in all their glory." Harry spits. "Making out."
