"Finally, there's Freya. The Queen Bee of all the other girls and pretty much any female in the school. She starts trends and ends, just as easily as she does with friendships. She's a real backstabber and is proud of it. Apart from Simon, she's also one to watch out for. But me and her have to deal with each other as her and Josh have been primary, middle, and high school sweethearts for the past like forty years."

"Are you joking me? He's dating her?!" I whisper shout to him, standing closer. Vik has already slipped through my arm and is chatting away to Kayleigh in front of us.

"Yeah, speaking of which, where is that little snitch? I gotta get a chip or some sort of a GPS attached to him as I can never find him," Tobi chuckles.

"Was that sarcasm, or.."

"Nah, it was. Josh and I have been the 'inseparable duo', as people used to call us. Same with JJ and Simon. But I still love that kid to death. Josh really is something special.. Anywho, let's stuff our faces and go."

I nod in agreement as I take a tray and begin to pick out food.

-------

Currently standing and waiting for Vik and Tobi to finish picking out what they were going to eat from the small range of foods we are given, I look around to see if there are any free spots.

Somehow, the other girls, JJ, Ethan, and another guy with a gorgeous girl with long, curly hair and plump lips are already sat down. The only person missing was Simon, who was nowhere to be seen.

Finally, I spot a free table with just enough seats and start to walk, but I hear footsteps approaching fast behind me.

"Watch your step," he whispers before I feel myself falling to the floor, and the last thing I see before is my plate of soup smashing into millions of pieces and laughter erupting from the cafeteria.

-------

"Pathetic,"

"Such an embarrassment.."

"I thought she'd be better than this,"

I hear people talking behind my back as I put away my tray. I see Simon standing in the far back of the room, near where I fell, as he shrugs his shoulders and mouths the word, 'oops'.

I shake my head as I give him yet another glare.

"Game on, Minter."

-------

I enter the bathroom which was thankfully empty.

I look at myself in the mirror, carefully looking over at all the stains before beginning to try and wash off the spots.

"I may be pathetic and an embarrassment, but I'm better than this. I'm not..giving..up." I murmur to myself before looking up into the mirror once more.

The door suddenly opens and in walk the three girls, which were being led by the one and only, Freya.

They stop in their tracks as soon as they see me, their chattering dies down.

"Oh...you.." Freya seems unamused with me here. "You know, you're really sad. Hanging out with people who are way out of your league, even Vik. That's really, really low."

"Like the amount of brain cells you have," I mumble without turning around, still washing off the stain.

Emily gasps as Katie tries not to laugh, Freya fuming.

"What did you just say?"

"You heard me. Or do I need to repeat it again as you're also deaf?" I suggests, sass lacing as I speak.

Time seems to go even slower than it usually does as Freya just stands there, watching me.

"I was going to say, don't get on our bad side, but you've just crossed the line, girl."

"Okay, cool, great. I don't know if that meant to sound threatening, but I'll just tell you - it didn't. So, good to know, I guess?" I furrow my eyebrows in confusion as Freya struts out the bathroom, Katie following close behind. Emily, on the other hand, doesn't move.

"What?" I ask, the sound coming out more rude than I intended to.

"I'm really sorry for the way they're acting; you don't deserve it," her guilty tone makes me feel bad for the way I talked to her friend, but before I could apologize, the bathroom door shuts closed, leaving me alone once more.
