I closed my eyes. I didn't want to see anything happen to anyone that I've come to love. I'm don't know who he was going to choose first and that scares me. Was it going to be Ragnar? Or Alex? I couldn't bare to see anything happen to them.

That was when I was jerked off the ground. It was me. He was choosing me. I looked down at Ragnar and saw the panic fill his desperate eyes. He was terrified now and there was nothing he could do. Despite the pain he was clearly in, he fought. He fought harder than I ever seen him before. That was when I finally looked to the others, Richard and Alex were also fighting to get to me.

"Now, why don't we get started." Ross said, stepping in front of me, nose basically touching my own. Pure terror finally showed in my eyes as he smiled, knowing he finally won. We were done and he knew that. He was finally winning.

Suddenly, I was thrown to the ground, pain erupting through my entire body. I squeezed my eyes shut as I rolled into my back, holding my side.

"Mavis!" It wasn't Ragnar that yelled out, it was Alex. He finally broke out of his trance and realized that we were in real danger. He started fighting the man holding him and that was when chaos erupted.

I could barely hold myself up as the fight between the guys broke out. Ragnar seemed to find the strength to hold his own again and Richard didn't seem to have any qualms with fighting Ross and his men. I found my way back to my side and watched as everything unfolding.
Alex seemed to be able to hold his own and so did Richard but Ragnar seemed to start having troubles as the exhaustion from his previous beating start to show. I was beginning to panic because I didn't know what was going to happen. There was no way we were going to win this. I knew that now.

I looked over and saw Ross just standing there in front of his chair with his arms crossed over his chest, just smiling at the scene in front of him. He was enjoying the chaos.

"You won't win this, Mavis. You can't. It's impossible. I am smarter, stronger, and just all around better. I'm sorry but I've won." He said not looking at me. I tried to pull myself up but the pain was just too much. I looked back at the guys and saw that we were in fact losing. Alex was still holding his own but Richard who was not much a fighter to begin with was starting to have issues. He would get a few good hits in but then his opponent would get a few more and Ragnar wasn't doing much better. He was fighting good but again, his opponent seemed to be getting the better of him.

That was when I realized I had to do something. I couldn't just sit here while everyone here was about to die.

That was when I was able to push the pain from my mind and I slowly made my way off the floor. Ross didn't seem to take any notice to me as I raised myself up and slowly made my way over to him. At the last second, he turned to face me, grabbing me by the shoulders. I was terrified by the look in his eyes.

"Seriously? You think that you can actually beat me? I'm stronger Mavis not to mention you're broken." I just smiled at him as I noticed a small piece of wood about the size of my forearm but he'd see if I tried to grab it.

"You're right, Ross. I am broken. But here's the thing, I don't let it rule my life. I don't sit in a corner and plot ways to kill my parents because they were mean to me." With that, I grabbed the wood and I stabbed him with it. He yelled out in pain and shoved me back. I gasped as I hit the table placed to my left and placed a hand on my hip. I looked at Ross to see him fall to the floor. He looked back at me with such anger and betrayal that it was almost ironic.

"You still think you're better? Well you're not."

"I am better. I don't go around killing people, Ross. I don't create a race of monsters to kill my family and I don't impregnate woman to further the creatures. I don't ruin lives Ross. And I don't take people's children. I'm taking my son back and I'm going to go live my life." I tried to push myself up but I no longer had the strength. I slowly slid to the floor and watched as the man I once saw as my best friend die.

"Mavis? Damn it Mavis wake up." I couldn't place where the voice was coming from. I tried to open my eyes but they wouldn't open. It was completely dark and I couldn't find Ragnar anywhere. Something was definiently wrong, I just couldn't figure it out.

I finally opened my eyes. I looked around and saw nothing. I wasn't blind again, it was just that there was nothing around me. The guys were nowhere to be seen and that scared me. I slowly sat up and realized that my wound had been restitched and my leg was in a proper cast.

"Mavis?" I looked up and saw Ragnar in the doorway. I felt my eyes begin to tear and I swung my legs over the side of the bed I didn't realize I was laying on as he quickly closed the distance between us and kissed me. There was a sense of urgency in the kiss that I've never felt come from him before. Not even after he woke up from his coma.

"Thank god. I thought I lost you." He whispered leaning his forehead against mine. I smiled and softly laughed as I opened my eyes to meet his. The relief that he was safe just washed over me.

"Where am I?" I asked before pulling away.

"A hospital of sorts. It's actually really nice. It's Richard's house." He answered and my head snapped back to look at him.

"Richard's house? You mean, his house in Cleveland?" He smiled and shook his head.

"No, he has one here in Tennessee. He had this set up for...something. I didn't care. I was just worried about you." I smiled and tried to pull myself off the bed before Ragnar stopped me.

"Hey, no. You just woke up. Let Richard look at you first, please." I could see the urgency in his eyes. He didn't want me to get hurt again and I understood that. I didn't want anything worse happening to him when he finally came out of his coma. I simply nodded and waited patiently as he went to get Richard.

"Mavis. You're awake. That's great. Let me check you out and see if anything is wrong."

Once Richard was done with my little check up, he called Ragnar in. I was able to sit up with his help and he explained that everything was looking good and he wasn't really worried. He just wanted me to take things easy for a while. I agreed even though I knew I probably wasn't going to.

"Where's Ragnar?" I asked, noticing that he still hadn't come in yet. Richard looked to the door and smiled a little.

"I don't know. Let me go see what is keeping him." I nodded in confusion as he walked away and opened the door. "Ah, there he is. Come on in." And when he did, he was holding what I never thought I'd ever see again. He was holding Jax. He was holding our son.
