"Delfunie aren't spoken about any longer. It didn't take humans long to take the world back. Its just a small page in our world's history books." I explained to my children.

"But dad. What about us? Aren't we Delfunie?" My son Richard asked as I smiled down at him.

"Yes but only a small part. You see, I'm only half  Delfunie and your mother is human.

"Jax are you telling them your parent's story again?" Maia asked. I stood after completely tucking our twins in and I walked out to hug my pregnant wife.

"Yes dear but only because they asked. Besides, its our story too. I thought you liked it." I kissed her forehead and she pulled away from me to put the clothes away.

"Yes, I love that story but they are only three and I don't want them to know their grandmother was abused here."

Once I reached adulthood, I took ownership of my birthfather's house. It was a little too big for us but I really liked it so mom let me have it. We're making it work.

The phone started ringing so I went to answer it.

"Hey mom." Mom always called after we put the kids to sleep.

"Hey Jax. You're dad is thinking about coming up this weekend, maybe have a cookout, invite everyone."

"Yeah mom, that sounds fantastic. I'll let Maia know and we'll have the grill fired up and ready when you get her."

Things worked out pretty well for the cookout. Mom and dad were able to get grandma out of the house and brought her. She really hasn't been the same since we lost grandpa last year. Mom and dad stay with her now seems Aunt Rose couldn't be bothered.

Aunt Rosemary and mom never reconciled after we came home. Aunt Rose moved out and her room turned into the nursery for my baby sister Ira.

Ira had a family of her own and lived in Columbus. Half way between me and our parents. She was born with small Delfunie traits due to mom and dad being Delfunie for a time. Ira was small and like myself, she was born with sharp teeth which she eventually lost to be replaced with human ones.

Richard ended up adopting Lily, Ross' little sister. She grew up a little distant but she ended up marrying my older brother Nathan. They have four kids and lived out in Kansa Though Nathan is still very close with mom.

The twins just kind of hand around. They bounce around our houses until they find a little adventure to go on before coming back. They are currently at Emilee's.

Emilee and I became really close as we grew older. She is also best friends with Maia and the twins, Richard and Jaime, loved her.

Alex at first did not approve of me dating his daughter but soon warmed up to me. He wasn't too thrilled when we told him we were getting married and definitely didn't like it when I got her pregnant. Though when he heard one of the babies was going to be named Jaime, after Maia's mother, he quickly changed his mind. Alex never remarried, his love for Jaime was too great that he knew he could never love anyone the same and that wouldn't be fair.

Mom and dad couldn't be happier. We all lived our lives together, not once did anyone leave once everything calmed down. Mom remained close with everyone that helped her get me back. Dad loved mom just as he did the day he met her and us kids got to grow up in a happy home surrounded by people who truly loved us.

Mom always said that Maia and I were destined to be together. She could see it from when we were little. We could always be found together and no matter how hard anyone tried, we couldn't be kept apart.

Now we are not the couple who grew up together, went to school together, took each other to prom, were each others' firsts, so on and so forth. That wasn't us. After middle school, we had a kind of fight and didn't really talk again until high school but by then, someone found out about my back ground and no one really wanted anything to do with me.

Maia however put behind our little argument and we were friends once more. She did have a boyfriend at the time and her status got me a girlfriend so we didn't actually get together until after graduation.

Her boyfriend didn't like that we were friends and left to go to college. I had long broken up with my girlfriend after realizing my feelings for Maia so I took a chance. Now here we are, a few years later, beyond happy in a world no longer overrun by monsters.
