tao te ching is a good text. it's chock full of amazing quotes that i'm absolutely in love with. and probably weaved me into the person i am today.

i know tao te ching is a pretty heavy text for me to have read at thirteen but i've always been a curious person. which is why i read tons of books greater than my understanding.

maybe i misunderstood most of the things lao tzu said. maybe the connotations were too great for my thirteen year old mind to truly comprehend.

maybe i still don't understand. but right now, there's only one quote i fully understand.

my memory of you is better than you.

the very first time i read that line, i laughed. i found it amusing and i don't even know why.

but now it makes a whole lot of sense to me. and i can tell you, there's nothing amusing about it.

the memory i have of you is the you that i used to love. the you that you are now, i don't know.

and i've come to hate you now because you are no longer a person that i can love.
