After Mr. Weasley warned the twins not to tell their mother about them gambling, our group joined the steady flow of people back to the campsite.
When we finally reached the tents, no one felt like sleeping at all. Mr. Weasley and Charlie soon got caught in a playful argument about cobbing (the use of elbows in Quidditch) while the rest of us did verbal replays of our favorite parts of the match.
"But did you see him crash to the ground? It was awful!" I shouted.
"They fixed him up though! But Krum! Krum was bloody brilliant! Did'ja see him catch the snitch? Of course you did because it was wicked!" Ron announced loudly.
Our conversation continued like this for a while.
"If only England wouldn't have got that new seeker, then they would've been the ones playing Bulgaria." I sighed.
Fred just rolled his eyes and threw an arm around me, causing heat to rush to my cheeks."Keep telling yourself that Y/n/n. I however, think we never had a chance."
The whole campsite was filled with singing and cheering. It wasn't until Ginny fell asleep at the table and spilled hot coco everywhere, that Mr. Weasley decided it was time for bed.
I shook her awake and made her stand. Hermione, Ginny and I stumbled into our tent and onto our beds. I couldn't sleep and apparently neither could Hermione.
"Y/n? Are you still awake?" She asked from the other side of the room. Ginny's soft snores could be heard over the vague sound of singing.
"Yes." I replied softly.
I saw Hermione sit up on her elbow and face me so I did the same.
"Can't sleep?" I asked.
She shrugged, "Not really. I can't believe Fred and George actually won that bet. How could they possibly know that Krum would catch the snitch but Ireland would win?"
"I've been wondering that myself. They always seem to know."
"I saw Fred pick you up and spin you. What was that about?" She smirked at me.
Heat rushed to my cheeks as I laid back down."I have no idea what you're talking about."
I could practically hear the smirk in her voice grow stronger when she spoke again, "Okay... Well, goodnight then."
"Goodnight 'Mione." I whispered as sleep overtook me.
It felt like I had only just closed my eyes when I was being shaken awake.
"Get up! Come on Y/n! Get up! We've go to go!" A voice was shouting at me.
I opened my eyes and saw Fred's face hovering above mine. This was no prank- that much could be told from the panic in his eyes. Screams filled my ears. Not the happy, joyful screams from earlier, these screams were terrified and pain filled.
I got up and saw George waking Ginny and Hermione.
"What's going on?!" I shouted over the screaming.
Fred didn't answer just took Ginny and I's hand and pulled us outside. Us girls each grabbed a coat and pulled them over our nightdresses.
All of the boys were already outside staring at four floating shapes in the sky. Upon closer inspection, I realized these shapes were people. One of them was the man that let us into the campsite, Mr. Roberts. Two of the shapes were very small, his children. The other must have been his wife.
It was absolutely horrible. Under the muggle family was a group of masked figures. They marched through the campsite laughing and destroying anything in their way. The smallest child began to spin 60 feet up in the air while they turned the mother upside down.
"We're going to help the Ministry! You lot- get into the woods, and stick together. I'll come and fetch you when we've sorted this out!" Mr. Weasley yelled. Bill, Charlie, Percy and Mr. Weasley then ran off towards the oncoming marchers.
"C'mon!" Fred shouted while grabbing Ginny's hand and pulling her towards the woods. Harry, Ron, Hermione, George and I followed quickly. I was running to keep up with Ginny, Fred and George but it was rather difficult with people pushing from both directions.
"What happened?" I heard Hermione yell. When I turned around to look for her I was pushed off the path and fell backwards.
I quickly regained my footing just as an explosion of green light washed over the camp. The screaming was becoming unbearable. I stumbled back onto the path but was pushed back into the rush of the crowd. My group was lost and I could only follow the stream of witches and wizards.
It wasn't until the crowd broke through the woods that I realized I was heading back in the direction of the tents. I was thrust out into the open campsite that was now covered in the ruins of tents, flames, and most terrifyingly, masked figures marching through the rubble. A group of bushes next to me caught flame when a blast of green light shot past me. I ducked back into the forest and ran down the lantern lit path.
The crowd became thinner and thinner as I reached the middle of the woods. Wizards and witches huddled in small groups, each with their wands out. As I passed the small groups I searched for any gingers I could spot.
"Fred? Ginny? George?" I called out, not really expecting a response.
"Y/n? Y/n!" Ginny's voice yelled before I was tackled to the forest floor.
"We thought we lost you! Well, we did lose you. Along with Ron, Harry and Hermione! Have you seen them?" Ginny's words were rushed and panicked. I pulled myself off the ground only to be swept up into a pair of arms. I inhaled the familiar scent of firework powder and autumn leaves. Fred.
"Don't you ever do anything like that ever again!" He whispered sharply into my ear.
"I'll try not to Freddie. It was an accident. I got swept up in the crowd and pushed back towards the campsite." I sighed and hugged him back. I rested my forehead against his chest while he rested his chin on top of my head.
"But did you see them?" George asked.
"When I was following you three I heard Hermione yell 'What happened?'. When I turned around to find her, I was pushed backwards off the trail. When I got back up everyone in our group was gone." I spoke into Fred's jumper.
Fred finally released me from his hold but stuck close by my side.
"What do we do now?" Ginny asked whilst rubbing her eyes, she was exhausted.
"Do we look for the others?" I asked.
"No. Dad would want us to stay here. We'll find them. They couldn't have gone that far." George said.
Ginny walked away and sat down at the base of a large tree. I followed and sat beside her. George sat down by her and Fred by me. Ginny then spread out and put her head in my lap and her legs across the forest floor. She quickly fell asleep.
My eyelids were drooping closed when Fred shifted and allowed my head to rest on his shoulder.
"Get some rest. I'll wake you if anything happens." He whispered. His tone was soft, unlike his usual joking one. I enjoyed it.
Sleep then overtook me.
