The summer term finally began. Usually, we would be training countless hours for the last Quidditch match of the season, but the tournament had cancelled it. The school was abuzz with excitement about the third task and the rumors of Barty Crouch going mental and attacking Viktor Krum. Most students days were spent with classes, classwork, and enjoying the sun by the Black Lake. My days were spent the same, as well as deflecting Lee's horrible attempts at being a wingman.
A couple days after our little library conversation, he decided to come up with a few plans and put them into action.
So far, I've been tripped walking down stairs, drenched in pumpkin juice, and was just doused in Flobberworm mucus.
"Miss, L/n," Snape drawled as the Slytherins snickered, "It would be rather wise to pay attention to directions instead of acting a fool. Ten points from Gryffindor."
The bell rang as the twins, Lee, and I mopped up the last of the mucus. I pulled Lee to the door and towards the common room, telling the twins we'd see them in a few minutes at lunch.
This had been the last straw.
The common room was empty except for a couple of third year boys playing a game of exploding snap.
"This is not working, Jordan," I snapped as I rounded on Lee.
He smiled sheepishly, "Yeah, that one didn't go as planned. But I've got more ideas and-"
"No! Lee I'm sorry but I'm gonna have to fire you."
His eyes widened, "You can't! You guys have to get together soon!"
"Look at me, Lee. I'm covered in Flobberworm mucus. Flobberworm. Mucus. Seriously how much money are you betting?"
"It's not just about the money! Well, I mean, yeah, got quite a bit on the line here. But it's for everyone's sanity! Honestly you two are driving everyone mad with the flirting and bickering!"
The two boys looked up, the one with feathery hazelnut hair spoke, "Oi, you two are talkin' 'bout Fred Weasley? 'Cause Lee's bloody right you know."
"Yeah, I've got four sickles on L/n making the first move," the other added.
"Yeah? Well, I've got seven on Weasley!"
"Shut it, Hobbs, and you too Webb." I grumbled.
The boys snickered and went back to their game.
"Still not convinced Fred loves you?" Lee smirked.
"No, but I am convinced this whole bloody school has lost its mind!"
Frustrated with everyone and everything, I stormed up to my dorm to quickly shower and change clothes. I marched back down the stairs, expecting Lee to be pouting on the couch, but found the common room empty.
"I need new friends," I mumbled as I exited the room and began walking towards the Great Hall.
"Vhere can I apply?" A thick accent questioned.
I turned to see Sebastian strolling alongside me with a small etched onto his face.
I laughed, "Hi, Sebastian."
"Hi, Y/n."
"It's been awhile. How've you been?"
I hadn't really thought of the Yule Ball, choosing instead to block that night and apparently Sebastian from my memory. Now that I'm thinking of it, I hadn't passed him in the halls, seen him eating in the Great Hall, or reading in the library. I didn't see him in any of my classes like some of the other Durmstrang and Beauxbatons students.
"I 'ave been very busy. The workload you all 'ave here- it is quite heavy."
I chuckled, "That's Hogwarts for you. Are you struggling with any subjects? Perhaps I could help?"
"I am 'aving some difficulty with Study of Ancient Ruins," He admitted, a light blush forming on his cheeks.
"Don't be embarrassed, it's a tough class. I'm free after dinner if you'd like to study in the library," I smiled.
"Really?" He asked excitedly.
"Sure. I've nothing better to do anyway," I shrugged. We reached the Great Hall and stepped inside.
"Then it's a date." His eyes widened, "Not a- not a date-date. A study group! Vith two people! A study couple! Not that we're a-"
"I get it Sebastian," I laughed.
He sighed in relief and walked over to the Slytherin table.
I turned to the Gryffindor table and spotted the twins and Lee. Remembering why I walked with Sebastian, I marched up to them and focused my glare on Lee while sitting next to Fred.
"Before you start- just remember that I had no part in anything." George claimed when he saw my expression.
"Ditto," Fred added.
"Y/n, I just want to say: you fired me. I now have some very valuable information that I would just hate to get out." Lee said smugly.
"Information?" George perked up and grinned evilly at me.
"Yeah, but it's nothing you don't already know," Lee explained to George.
Georges smirk faded into a look of confusion as he raised an eyebrow at Lee.
"I'll tell you later."
"Lee!" I shouted.
He shrugged, "Well I am out of a job..."
"You can have your 'job' back if you shut it," I hissed.
"Wonderful! Sorry, George."
George pouted at his plate as Lee turned to Fred, "Awful quiet over there, aren't we, Freddie?"
Fred shook his head, an odd look on his face, "Just thinking about a prank we could pull tonight."
He tapped his fork thoughtfully on his chin before grinning at us, "What'dya say mates? Up for it?"
"'Course! How 'bout it Lee?" George grinned.
"Sound's good to me, Y/n?" Lee asked.
I was about to agree before I remembered my prior engagement.
"Not tonight, boys. Maybe another time?"
"What?" They exclaimed.
"Not. Tonight. Boys. Maybe. Another. Time." I repeated slowly.
George rolled his eyes, "We heard the first time, git. You never miss out on a good prank if you can help it."
"I can't help it this time. I've already got plans to study in the library."
"Well, reschedule them! You can go study any other night." Lee groaned.
I began dishing out different foods into my plate, "I can't."
"What, is it a date?" George chuckled.
"Not a date-date exactly, just a study-date," I struggled to explain.
"Anyone we know, perchance?" Lee asked.
I paused, remembering Fred's little meltdown.
"Just a friend."
A/n: Surprise! I'm so sorry for updating this now. I assume I've probably lost a lot of readers, but to those of you who are still here, thank you! Also, thank you to everyone who messaged me and left comments for me asking if I'm okay. I am, and I'm so sorry I haven't responded to them or if I've worried you. I love you guys.
