There was no time for explanation. The constant pounding on the door was enough to keep their thoughts distracted. Scott knew it was time for action, but he wasn't the first one to make a move. Trevor, feeling as if their efforts were futile, released his blockade on the entryway leaving Scott to fend for himself. In fear, Scott retreated from the door to follow after Trevor. While attempting to get to his feet, Scott was knocked off balance again. The impact sent him back into the wall.

Now that both men were away from the door, their attacker was granted access inside the trap. Crashing through the doorway, the attacker slammed into Scott as he was trying to get to his feet. After bouncing off the wall, Scott looked up to finally set eyes on the monster wanting to do him harm. With his quick glance, Scott was able to tell that his attacker wasn't a man after all. The lop-sided breasts, swaying along with her flailing arms, underneath a dingy, blood-covered tank top let him know that a very angry woman was out for his blood. Her face was covered by plastic material that hung from her blood spattered goggles. The smock that began underneath her torn tank top hid her legs, but not their movement. In each hand she swung large metal meat tenderizers.

Scott braced his hand against the wall and was trying to stand when he was attacked. The woman slammed a meat tenderizer into Scott's hand, driving it deep into the wall. As the shock surged through his body, Scott dropped to his knees. With one meat tenderizer lodged into the wall, the woman came around with the other weapon for a second attack. Before the second tenderizer could make contact, Trevor made his move.

Seeing that the woman was distracted, Trevor grabbed the biggest thing that he could use to help get him out of their trap. Using both hands he picked the television off of the cabinet and threw it into the woman's upper torso and face. The woman's stature was larger than Trevor's so when she was stunned, he ran, throwing all of his weight into her. She held onto the stuck tenderizer as she fell back, and swung into the door. While she was sliding to the floor Trevor hurdled over her and made it into the hallway.

Furious, the woman wrestled to her feet, ripped the tenderizer from the wall, and took off after Trevor. The force of the tenderizer leaving the wall also pulled Scott's hand from the hole. Scott wanted to sit there stunned, staring out into the hallway, but his hand was throbbing. He didn't want to look at it because he was confident that he was badly hurt. Taking deep breaths he stared into the ceiling, building up the courage to move. The warmth covering his leg let Scott know that his bleeding hand needed attention.

He couldn't keep his eyes on his wound. His first inspection caused him to dry heave. Everything about his hand looked mangled. Luckily the rushing blood was able to cover the meat and bone that was now exposed. Rolling onto his knees, Scott crawled into the bathroom while closing the broken door to the room. From a kneeling position, Scott grabbed a towel from above the toilet and wrapped his hand up the best he could. He was in need of medical attention, and there wasn't any way he was going to get it from inside his hotel room.

Minutes went by as Scott tried to calm down the pain shooting up his arm. Sweat streamed down his face while everything about him shook in fear. He was confused about all that was going on, but reminded himself that there was nothing predictable about the Purge. There was a false sense of security as he hid in the bathroom, but as time passed by, his fear grew and he knew he had to move. It took all he had to get up from the corner he had backed himself into. Outside the bathroom he opened the door leading out into the hall. Slowly he peered around the corner to see what waited for him outside the room. Luckily he found the hallway empty. It was now time to make his move. Turning around and looking over at the bed gave him a sick feeling. In all the commotion he forgot about the one person he was designated to protect. His daughter still lay on the bed, furthest from the door, with her headphones blaring.
