Since Will was dead, Scott talked it over with the group, and they felt that there was a good chance that they could unify the rest of the fourth floor group, before looking for more Participants. Everyone in the hallway merged together, and Scott led them back to the fourth floor. It had been a while since Scott was last in the stairwell, and there was a lot that he didn't pay attention to last time. As the climbed the steps and looked up toward the rooftop, he thought about the two floors above him that he had yet to set eyes on, and wondered what was up there. All of the Safeties seemed to inhabit the second, third, and fourth floor; the Participants were on the fifth floor, and the sixth floor was a mystery. It was the mystery that stole Scott's attention.
Scott had one person, from the group, go and talk the plan over with the rest of the fourth floor, while the rest remained near the stairwell. The more he thought about the sixth floor, the more he connected it with the Orchestrator. He was sure that if the Orchestrator was in the building, he resided at the top. Tired of fighting the partial problem, Scott wanted to take the fight to the source.
Will's death did unite the rest of the group and they were once again together, and not under any immediate threat. Twenty-one people now looked at Scott to help them survive the night. Those with weapons took up position at the front and rear of the group, as they moved throughout the hotel. They used scouts to run ahead and assess any threats that they would meet. Scott didn't inform anyone of his plan because most of them didn't believe in the Orchestrator to begin with. Everyone was under the assumption that they would clear out the hotel, starting from the top before working their way down. When the group left the stairwell, they left one person behind to keep lookout.
The sixth floor was empty when the group arrived. Dim light reflected off dark green walls with gold trim. It was eerily quiet on the sixth floor. There wasn't an elevator door at the end of the sixth hall. Standing in front of them, at the end of a much shorter hall, was a room door in the center. Scott knew that it was where the Orchestrator was staying.
"We should check every door before determining this floor is secure," Scott said to the group.
Scott's plan was to get to the Orchestrator's door, spray it with acid, and then force his way inside. Organized, the group walked in formation down the hallway. They walked with four armed men, abreast, in the front and back. Scott walked in the middle with space around him. The plan was to keep Scott hidden until it was time for him to attack. The rest of the group walked behind Scott, keeping armed people directly behind him, in case someone attacked from a doorway.
As they moved down the hallway, those in front checked to make sure every door was locked. Every step brought Scott closer to his nemesis. He fantasized about confronting the Orchestrator. They were only two doors away when Sarah's cell phone started to ring. It definitely wasn't a good time to take a phone call, but something was compelling her to answer. The call was from an unknown caller, but when she answered, she knew exactly who it was. Sarah stared into Scott's eyes and he immediately knew who it was. She passed the phone to Scott."
"Scott," the Orchestrator began, "are you thinking about doing what I think you're thinking about?"
"I'm about to say, 'hello,'" Scott answered.
"Well come on in. This should be fun."
The Orchestrator ended the call, and Scott brought his attention to the group.
"Was that him," Trevor asked.
"Yes," said Scott. "The man that caused all of this is right behind that door. I say we end all this now. All we have to do is get through that door."
