Month Eight

"Here," Sam said as she folded up and handed him her phone number on a little slip of paper. "Remember, call only after nine."
Justin smirked. He stuffed the paper in the pocket of his leather jacket and ran his rough hands through Sam's hair.
Sam closed her eyes with a smile. This is exactly what she wanted. She looked at Justin and winked. Then she started to leave.
Justin grabbed her hand and brought her back to him. He wrapped his hands around her waist and behind her head and kissed her roughly, Sam had to admit: she liked it. She leaned back and grinned at him.
"I'll talk to you later," she said before heading to the town bus. She'd told her sister that she was going to the library, and she did. To meet her new boyfriend.
Justin smirked as she walked away. Another young man came over and patted him on the back, "Daaang! You got yourself a fine girl. How old's this one?"
"Sixteen. Only a three year difference."
The other guy raised an eyebrow, "Don't mess around. I ain't bailin' you out of jail again."
Justin laughed and patted the other guy on the shoulder, "Don't worry. I won't get caught." He walked away.
The other guy called after him, "Ay! Don't let this get you distracted! We've still got 6 more packages to deliver!"

Two weeks later

"Sam!" Ziva called. Sam came walking downstairs.
"What?"
"I asked you to take the garbage out three times now. Your dad is coming home tomorrow and I want this place to look nice. Now, please, take the trash out," Ziva complained.
Sam rolled her eyes and moved to do as she said. She took the garbage bags outside, only to find Justin by the garbage can. She gasped and knelt down beside it.
"What are you doing here?" She glanced back at the house.
Justin turned her head towards his. "I couldn't wait to see you again." He kissed her, grabbing her hair as well.
Sam knew she should've stopped, but she was enjoying it too much. She stopped before someone got suspicious. "I told you to wait until night. I'll sneak out of the window and meet you at the library."
Justin smiled, "You gonna get mad if I surprise you?"
"No, but my mom probably will, now go." She laughed as he ran off funnily.

The next day, Sam had barely gotten home in enough time to change back into pajamas and get in bed before Cassie woke up. Sam pretended to be just waking up as well.
Cassie was shocked, "What are you doing up so early?"
Sam cast a glare at her, "Shut up. I'm taking a shower."
Cassie huffed. Hopefully things would get better when Tony got back. She got up and got ready, then met Ziva for breakfast.
Ziva was so anxious. She barely ate breakfast, then grabbed her things, "C'mon, let's go!"
"We're gonna be so early!" Sam replied.
"It's better than waiting here. I'm getting in the car and leaving with or without you two." She walked out the door.
Sam looked at Cassie, "She wouldn't... would she?"
Outside, they heard the car start up. Both of their eyes widened. They scrambled for the door.
"Crap!" Sam shouted, "She would!"
~~~
The cheers were insane. As a shipfull of Naval Officers docked next to the loading zone, husband and wives and children of all ages waved and cheered. Ziva was right there with them, as was Cassie. Sam stood however, not really cheering, just watching.
Tony was one of the first off, thankfully. Ziva didn't know how much more she could handle. As he came off the ship, he was delighted to see her. She ran to him. He dropped his things and hugged her.
Ziva kissed him, then backed away and slapped him.
"Ow! What the heck, Zi?" Tony rubbed his face.
"You could have called!!"
He scratched the back of his neck, "Yeah, about that. Those alarms were tornado alarms. After the storm, there was no connection for a long time. Then, when there finally was, no one was allowed to use it to call their families since there were so many business calls to make."
Ziva hugged him again, "Whatever... I'm just glad you're safe."
Sam and Cass caught up around that time. Cassie ran straight for a hug. Tony kissed her head, then turned to Sam.
Sam wasn't smiling, but she wasn't mad either. He hugged her and she hugged back, but then she turned to Ziva. "Can we go home now?"
Tony was confused. He looked at Sam. "Something's changed."
Sam shrugged her shoulders, "It's been eight months. What did you expect? I'm still me."
~~~
"What's up with Sam?" Tony asked that night as he and Ziva climbed into bed.
"I do not know," Ziva replied. "She's been acting weird for the past couple of weeks. Something just.. clicked. It's probably nothing. Besides, things weren't the easiest without you."
She snuggled up to Tony, clutching him like he would leave if she let go. "I'm just glad you're back."
He touched the soft waves of her hair. "Me too."
