<<< Final Chapter >>>

"It's crazy to think that five years have passed already!" Sam exclaimed to her parents on Skype. "It feels like yesterday... I still miss her so much."

A lot had happened in the last five years. Sam graduated high school and decided to study criminal law. She wanted to help people in the future, just like her parents. With time, the pain of the loss of Cassie gradually became less and more livable.

"I know, and you're about to graduate college? Stop growing," Tony joked.

Sam snickered at his comment and Ziva hit his shoulder gently. "Don't patronize your father, Sam."

Sam rolled her eyes. She was about to reply when there was a knock on her door. "Oh, I've got to go. One last party before we move on. Love you guys!" She blew a kiss, then hung up.

"You ready, Sam???" a voice called through the door. Olivia, Sam's roommate, was a tall, thin, and beautiful woman who was also studying criminal law.

"Hold your horses, girl!" Sam threw on some heels and opened her room door. "Last college party..." She squealed, "I've got to get a picture!"

"One picture, then we go or we'll miss it." Olivia took the picture, then headed out the door with Sam.

~~~~~~~~~~
Sam rolled her eyes at a cat call as she walked with Olivia to get a drink. When they got up to the bar, a very handsome man walked over and started talking.
"Whew! You," he said to Sam, "are gorgeous! You've got to let me buy you a drink."
Sam smirked. "I usually say no... but, what the heck, it's my last party. Sure... I'm Sam, by the way."
"Sam." The man smiled. "I'm Drew."
Sam spent the rest of the night talking with Drew. He, not surprisingly, was the only mostly sober person there other than Sam. But they both changed that by the end of the night.
As Sam sat in her room that night, a phone number for Drew on her nightstand, she wrote in her journal.
She thought of her adopted father. She recalled his first ever and last ever time beating her. She thought of when he abducted her and abused her to try to get to Cassie's head, which worked. She remembered all the hard times with her sister and mom when Tony had to go away. She remembered her time with Justin, as awful as it was. She thought of Cassie being blown away in a bomb, never to walk again. She thought of Justin's second attempt to get at Sam. And finally, she thought of her most agonizing trial of all... Cassie's death.
As she remembered all her hard times... all she could thing to write in her journal was...
My life hasn't been perfect. I've had more than my fair share of bumps and bruises... But even though it's been hard... It all turned out good in The End.
