"I'm going out!" Sam called to her parents. It'd been a week since Tony got back. Sam's mood hadn't improved. Her new relationship seemed to be doing more damage than it was doing good.
"Wait!" Tony stopped her. He finished on his phone, then said, "Be careful out there.."
Sam was confused, "What?"
"Just.. be careful." He went back to his room, walking quickly. Something was up, but Sam left anyway. Today was her first time going to Justin's house and she wouldn't miss it for the world.
She traveled about thirty minutes in a cab. He lived in a pretty rundown part of town. Smoke filled the air from who knows what type of illegal crap the people around there were smoking. Sam shuddered inwardly as she searched for his place.
She knocked on the door of the address that he gave her. Sam was greeted with a gun in her face.
"Name?" A big man asked behind the gun.
Sam jumped back and screamed, "Whoa! I- I'm Sam..."
Justin popped up, "Hey, hey, hey! That's my girlfriend! Put yo' gun down!"
The man walked away and Justin invited Sam in, "Sorry 'bout that."
Sam walked into the place. It was rundown and smelled like marijuana. She cringed at the bottles of beer sitting on the counter. This place reminded her of her adopted father. She found herself panicking by the time she'd taken a couple steps in.
"Um, c- could I use the restroom?" She asked cautiously. Justin nodded and told her where to go. She rushed in and locked the door. She knelt down and put her hand to her chest, panicking. When she finally caught her breath, she looked around.
From sitting on the floor, she could see the corner of a Ziploc bag under the cabinet. She pulled it out and inspected the contents. Several oval shaped white pills. Inside that bag was another smaller one with powder in it. Her eyes widened; she was in way over her head.
The bathroom door shook. Justin was knocking.
"You almost done there?" He called.
Sam scrambled to put the stuff back, but when he started opening the door, she had to just shove it in her pocket. She stood and came out, "Sorry, I really had to pee."
He nodded, "C'mon, lets go chill in my room."
She nodded and followed him. They sat on his bed, making out. He pushed her back on the bed, climbing on top of her. Things were starting to heat up when they could hear sirens in the distance getting closer.
When the sirens stopped right outside, the big man with the gun burst into the room, "Justin! Get up off the dang girl and flush the package! Cops!"
Justin, like a robot, going to the bathroom. Sam sat up and wiped the corner of her lips, following him into the hallway, just before the open house. "Justin? What's going on?"
A moment later, she heard cursing coming from the bathroom. Justin came storming back to her.
"Where is it!?" He screamed in Sam's face.
"Where is what!?" She asked, already feeling tears of fear start to churn.
He was turning red with anger, "The package, you idiot! I know you took it!!!"
When Sam didn't answer, he raised his hand and slapped her, causing her to fall to the ground. She shrieked and started crying immediately. Unknowingly, the 'package' slipped from her pocket. Oops.
Justin picked it up and kicked Sam, hard, "Stupid girl!"
Just then, the door burst open. Cops flooded the apartment. Random phrases you'd expect to hear rang out.
"Freeze!"
"Hands up! Now!"
"Put the gun down!"
Sam curled in a ball, shaking from fear, trying to catch the breath that was knocked out of her. When all was silent for a moment besides her stuttered breathing, she opened her eyes to see someone very familiar standing over her.
"SAM!?"
Her eyes were wide and her voice shook. "Dad?"
