Alicia's POV:
Sneaking out of an Alpha's house can't be much harder than getting out of a rogue facility, can it? Well, when you are the one everyone is trained to watch, then things get a little bit more difficult. Not all the pack members knew I was their Luna yet, so some thought I had been taken to the Alpha for a punishment for being rogue.
Ty's mood hadn't improved, if anything, it had gotten worse. His short temper kept many of his high advisers away from him. Even I was working to avoid him.
Anyway, as I stared out the bedroom window as I took in my surroundings. I needed to know exactly where I was so I could plan the safest route out as well as back in. Honestly, though, I wouldn't be surprised if Ty ran into me on my way back. To say he would be mad would be an understatement. He most likely wouldn't let me see the light of day again.
Time was running low. I knew that if I didn't make a move soon, these letters would keep coming. And they wouldn't stop.
I quickly pulled together a shirt and pair of shorts I had found in the closet along with a piece of food I had grabbed and tied it altogether in a small bag. I needed to keep this on me for when I need food and need to change.
Sarah was nervous. She knew that leaving now was the equivalent of rejecting our mate for who he was, but if we didn't he could die. We couldn't be selfish. I wasn't about to let anyone close to me be injured due to my ignorant actions.
I did a quick scan of the room to find it empty, and silent due to the Alpha next door finally coming to terms and calming down. I wouldn't have another chance for a while if I didn't leave now. Ty was going to come back into the room and find me here if I didn't head out. If I was held back, I was going to endanger everyone.
I positioned myself on the window sill, knowing that this was it. It was now or never. I took a deep breath before I braced myself for a second story jump any werewolf could easily survive. Just when I was on the verge of jumping over, something caught my attention. The door knob rattled.
My eyes went wide as my breath caught in my throat. A knock sounded from my door as an unfamiliar voice rang through. "Excuse me, Miss, but the Alpha would like to speak with you now."
I had to think fast. I couldn't let them know I was leaving until I was completely gone. Thinking quickly, I said, "I'll be out there in a minute. Let me finish getting dressed."
This seemed to satisfy the person that had spoken and their footsteps quickly left the outside of the door. I knew that I was off the hook for now, but I still needed to keep moving. It wouldn't be long before someone realized I had stopped answering their calls and the room was empty. By then I hoped I would be gone.
Without wasting another second, I jumped, landing in a crouch on the ground outside a first story window. I didn't take the time to make sure no one heard me, though. Instead I made sure I couldn't smell any wolves nearby and took off without a second thought. Waiting around wasn't on my to do list. Getting as far away from here was.
Just as I was about a minute or two into my room and getting closer to the border by the second, I smelled another wolf. A howl filled the air, warning of an unknown wolf making a run for it. Cursing underneath my breath, I stopped and dove into a bush. Footsteps sounded close to my left, and a feral growl escaped the wolf's lips. Just by the scent, I knew it was Cody. He was currently assigned watching the border, and a foreign wolf running through wasn't going to settle well with him. So much for getting across unnoticed.
After being hunched over like a sitting duck for a while, I debated just running the final stretch. There was a chance I could take him by surprise and outrun him for a short distance before I seeked out shelter again. There was also the possibility, though, that he would catch me before. The door to saving everyone would shut, and it wouldn't easily be opened again.
