A long sweep of silence entered the room after the boss had taken his final agonising breath. Both girls not even daring to share a glance at each other as they stared at the lifeless body before their feet. Camila didn't know if she wanted to cry or smile. She had ended a life, a disgusting excuse for a life but a life nonetheless. She was a murderer.
Lauren sensed the bad vibe Camila was giving off and delicately placed a comforting hand on her girlfriend's shoulder.
"It's over, baby. The terror is over."
Camila turned her head slightly to connect with the emerald eyes in front of her. Lauren smiled softly at the brunette, causing Camila to let out a long sigh.
"Come on. We should go home now." Lauren removed her hand from Camila's shoulder and now had it placed in her girlfriend's, their fingers entwined with each other.
As Lauren tugged Camila's arm the brunette's face completely dropped.
"Camz?" Lauren tried to gain the smaller girls attention but it didn't work. Camila was completely frozen. "What's wrong? We're free let's go."
"D-did he do it?" Camila stuttered. "Did he kill my parents?"
Lauren uneasily looked towards the floor and worked her jaw side to side. It was all Camila needed to picture her parents fate.
"Can we just get out of here already?"
Lauren just nodded, not having any words left to comfort Camila.
-
"Camila?"
The brunette heard a faint knock at the bedroom door before seeing the raven-haired girl emerge from the other side, holding two mugs, of what she assumed was tea, in her hands.
"Can I come in or do you want to be alone some more?"
The younger girl had given a lopsided smile and Lauren took it as an invite to cautiously approach her and take a seat by the bedside.
Camila had rarely interacted or spoken to the older girl ever since they arrived back at Lauren's house three days ago and Lauren was growing increasingly worried. She understood that Camila was going through a traumatic experience but why wouldn't she let her in? Ever since that night, Camila had just shut her out.
"I made you some tea." Lauren said, breaking the awkward silence that was steadily forming.
"Thanks."
God, she was being very closed.
"Talk to me Camz," the older girl placed a hand on top of the smaller girl's. "I'm here for you, you know I am. I don't want you to suffer alone. I know I can't relate to the pain you're feeling for the loss of your parents but...let me in." Lauren's voice had turned into a whisper as the chocolate orbs pierced into her soul. But it was different. These eyes were broken and wept too many tears unlike the times before when they were ecstatic and enticing.
"It's not my parents."
"Then what is it?" The raven-haired asked slowly, not wanting to seem too abrupt.
Camila sighed, "I killed someone, Lauren. I actually ended a life."
"Is that what you're so closed off about?" The other girl scoffed but instantly regretted it since the chocolate orbs switched into...anger?
"Oh I'm sorry Lauren, I forgot that you do this on the daily. Wow watching me kill him must've been a nice break for you, huh? Your day off work?" The younger girl had shouted in a tone that scared the hell out of the older girl. She'd never seen this side of Camila. Lauren was certain that Camila hadn't ever seen this side of Camila.
