Asami dating life was pretty much nonexistent. Always. She never could find one person that passed the first date. Asami would be tortured by having to listen to the other person blab on and on about their boring lives, or they were asking about her company and asking her for money. That's all anyone ever wanted from her. Her money.
Asami had figured that out pretty quickly after the third first day with a guy who obsessed with talking about her dad and her company and how much money she made. Asami had to resist the urge to get up and walk away or roll her eyes. It was always the same.
But that all changed when she walked into a bakery one spring day.
Asami was on a well deserved snack break, and Asami was craving something sweet. She walked into the local bakery. Normally she wouldn't go to these kinds of shops. Usually she'd be recognized easily in town and would have to leave immediately. Or she'd go to a high end restaurant, but today she wanted something different. She wanted something sweet.
She walked into the bakery/coffee shop, the smell of coffee and cake slapped her in the face. Asami heard the little jingle of the bell above the entrance.
Asami looked around the surprisingly big pastry shop. It had a pretty decent amount of customers there that day. High school kids and college students were hanging out by the tables, talking or on their laptops or studying.
Asami walked up to counter. There was a girl with short brown hair and big green eyes at the counter.
"Good afternoon, Ma'am", the girl said, a polite smile on her face. "My name is Opal. Welcome to Four Nations cafe bakery. What would you like to order??"
Great hospitality. Asami liked it here already. She looked up at the menu. Muffins, donuts, strudels, coffee cakes, cappuccinos, macchiatos, coffees, cupcakes, cookies, hot chocolate, bottled water.
"I'll have a caramel frappuccino...... and a chocolate chip muffin, please."
Opal put Asami's order into the computer. She looked back up at her.
"Anything else??." She asked. Asami shook her head. "No, thank you."
Opal nodded. "For here or to go??."
"Here." Asami said.
"That'll be $6.45"
Asami took out her wallet from her purse. She took out a 10 dollar bill. She handed it to the green eyed cashier.
"Keep the change." She said with a smile.
Opal thanked her and went to go get the muffin. She came back with it in a paper bag. She handed it to Asami.
"Here you go. Now what's your name??."
Asami hesitated. She didn't want anyone to recognize her by her name. She quickly thought of her nickname.
"Mimi."
Opal nodded. "Aright. Thanks. Your drink will be out shortly. You can take a seat if you'd like while you wait. We bring our drinks to the customer"
Asami nodded. She turned walked away. She walked past a group of guys. She heard one of them whistle as she strolled by. Asami rolled her eyes but ignored them. She walked down a three step staircase down to the lower level of the building and went to take a seat. She chose a seat by the window. She sat down and took out her phone and began going through her messages. Meetings were scheduled. Calls were needing to be returned asap. Asami sighed, rubbing her temple.
